“The Call Eternal is a manual on art of living which teaches us to live the life in its full awareness. It must be studied and emulated by all,” said former Union Minister Dr Subramanian Swamy, while releasing the book in New Delhi on February 20. Apart from The Call Eternal, another book, Glory of Karma, was also released on the occasion.

Both the books have been written by former BJP MP Shri BP Singhal. The Call Eternal: The Thrill in Living was published by Selective & Scientific Books while the Glory of Karma was published by Ocean Books, New Delhi. A panel discussion on Purpose of Life was also organised on the occasion.

Swami Chidanand Saraswati of Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh, Sadhvi Bhagwati of Parmarth Niketan, Swami Kailashanand and Shri Ajit Davol of Vivekananda International Foundation were also present on the occasion. A galaxy of eminent personalities including former Governor Justice (retd) Shri Rama Jois, former Governor Shri Kidarnath Sahni, former Governor Shri TN Chaturvedi, former Governor Shri Girish Chandra Saxena, Shri RK Ohri, Shri PC Dogra, Shri Omprakash Sharma, Shri Balbir Punj and many retired IPS and IAS officers and intellectuals were also present on the occasion.

“Those who became great in their life all over the world had prominently three qualities-unchanging commitment to the principles, definite purpose in life and physical and mental stamina. All the biographies that I have read so far basically talk about these three qualities. This book deeply touches all these issues. That is why I feel today’s politicians of India must read it at least once,” said Dr Swamy. Referring to a book, American Veda, he said the book reveals that the Americans have started following Hindu concepts of life but on the other the American Hindus have started ignoring their Hindu ideals.

Dr Swamy further said new kinds of dangers are posing threat to Hindu culture and they should be countered accordingly. He said the books written by Shri BP Singhal provide different outlook of understanding problems and also resolving them.

Swami Chidanand Saraswati Maharaj lauded the efforts of Shri BP Singhal saying that even in the age of 80 years he is thinking so deeply about the nation and the countrymen. “He has a vision in his life. That is why we see such an eminent gathering today at this function. What is needed today is to become a human being and we must introspect by closing our eyes what we are today,” he said.

Swami Kailashanand said Gita basically talks about character, duty, humanity, conduct and practice and this book provides us all these sutras of life with practical examples.

Answering a query from the audience, Sadhvi Bhagwati told the parents to follow the ideals in their practical life what they want to teach their children. “If you tell a lie in front of your children, then don’t expect them to speak truth in their life,” she added. Shri Ajit Davol spoke about the activities of the Foundation.

Earlier, introducing the books, Shri BP Singhal said everyone should decide a purpose in life and should not always think negative. He said the books vividly bring out the role and inter-play of the twin powers of vivek and ahankar which between themselves control the entire gamut of human conduct. “The book addresses a multitude of very fundamental questions about life and has resolved them with disarming logic. In the process it also gives concrete and tangible definitions of words like character, progress, success, perfection, samskar, dharma, salvation, purpose of life, etc. to enable greater precision in discourse,” he said while talking about the book The Call Eternal.
