“THE ashmita (identity) of Bharat is being targeted systematically by anti-national forces. Efforts are being made to make the people forget their glorious past and heritage. In this situation, the media has to play an important role to counter all these threats,” said Shri Baldevbhai Sharma, editor of Panchjanya while speaking at the 18th Basant Milan programme organised by Oriya weekly Rashtradeep at Kalabikas Kendra in Cuttack on February 13.
“The county is passing through a transitional phase. The anti-national forces are trying to encourage violent activities by creating ideological confusion. Jehadi and Maoist terrorism are being abetted. The media has a greater responsibility to protect the identity of the country,” Shri Sharma added.
Dr Raghunath Das, secretary of the Rashtradeep Prakashan, presided over the function. Shri Jagbandhu Mishra, editor of Rashtradeep, welcomed the gathering. Renowned literary person of Orissa Dr Pathani Patnaik was honoured at the function. Some media reporters of Cuttack were also felicitated on the occasion. Earlier, a Kavi Sammelan was organised in which many poets participated.
