ECHOING the message of social harmony, national unity and integrity and consolidating faith in dharma the three-day Ma Narmada Samajik Kumbh concluded in presence of saints, dharmacharyas, RSS leaders and millions of people drawn from all sections of the Hindu society at Mandla on the banks of river Narmada on Friday.

Describing the Kumbh as living example of social harmony the saints and RSS leaders made a fervent appeal to the entire Hindu society to accelerate the process of social harmony within the Hindu society, foster national unity and integrity and oppose the efforts to divide the Hindu society in the name of language, caste, creed and religion.

Addressing the jam-packed audience at Swami Laxmananda Saraswati Mandapam, RSS Sarkaryawah Sri Bhayyaji Joshi said that a divided society stands vulnerable to attacks. The interests detrimental to national security and social harmony were taking advantage of this vulnerability of Hindu society for quite some time creating dissensions in the name of religion and castes. But this gathering of lakhs of people drawn from various castes and sections has exhibited the unity, harmony and integrity of the Hindu society.

He said that the janjati brethrens living in remote forest and hilly areas of Bharat need love, compassion and equal treatment from the rest of the Hindu society. The majority should volunteer to put an end to the exploitation of this section of the society by fostering social harmony and mutual understanding.

Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Jyotishpeeth Swami Vasudevananda Saraswati exhorted the gathering to do away with all the divisions in the society and stand as a united, strong Hindu society to thwart all the evil designs of vested interests. He said that there was no place for concepts like untouchability as no section of Hindu society was considered untouchable. This concept was created by the foreign rulers, especially the Muslims, who ruled Bharat for over thousand years, and later kept alive by the wily British whose sole aim was to keep the Hindu society divided. We must do away immediately with such absurd concepts, he appealed.

The seer said that dharma is eternal as it has the principles of welfare of all beings ingrained in it while religion can change according to changing times and requirements of particular society.
