THE first BJP government in South India is constantly uttering a development mantra to improve the industrial growth as well as generating employment. Though the recently held Global Investors’ Meet was successful in generating a record investments to the state, the ongoing visit to China by a delegation led by Chief Minister indicates the point that Karnataka Government is aggressive and tireless in promoting the good atmosphere prevailing in the state to establish industries. The time at which the delegation has visited China is also being appreciated by the general public because Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues were actively campaigning for 10 days in Kadur and Gulbarga(Dakshin) Assembly constituencies for the bye-elections and without taking a rest the Chief Minister has travelled to China to explore the opportunities. Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa hosted a dinner on September 13, 2010 to select participants of World Economic Forum meeting at Tianjin, China. More than 140 CEOs of leading Global Companies took part in the dinner meeting.
Addressing the CEOs of Major Global Companies, Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa highlighted about the investment opportunities in Karnataka and also the initiatives taken by Government of Karnataka to facilitate new investments in various sectors.
“Karnataka is a state of action. We have witnessed rapid and unparalleled growth across our knowledge base sectors. The State’s entrepreneurial spirit in innovations and R & D has given recognition world over. Our rich natural resources, proactive Government policies, talented work force and a strong economy have propelled the State to become a preferred investment destination” the Chief Minister said.
Recalling the success of the Global Investors Meet held on 3rd and 4th of June, in Bangalore, the Chief Minister invited the CEOs of Global Companies to come to Karnataka and take advantage of investment opportunities available here.
Andre Schnider, Managing Director of World Economic Forum, Kris Gopalakrishnan, Managing Director, Infosys, Hari S Bhartia, Co-Chairman and Managing Director, Jubilant Bhartia Group, President, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) , Mr Jiang Hong of Sino Steel , mr Trung T Doan of SemiLEDs Corporation, Sridhar of Bloom Energy etc participated in the event.
A business delegation consisting of 11 companies which accompanied the Hon’ble Chief Minister had interaction with other companies regarding mutual investments and co-operation.
SV Ranganath, Chief Secretary, VP Baligar, Principal Secretary, Commerce and Industries, ISN Prasad, Secretary to Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr KV Raju, Economic Advisor to Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr Rajkumar Khatri, Commissioner for Industrial Development were present in the event and interacted with the investors.
The delegation participated in the Annual meeting of New Champions is also known as “Summer Davos” organised by World Economic Forum (WEF). It is the foremost business Global gathering in Asia and provides a unique platform for leaders from business, government, media, academia and civil society to discuss the major drivers of growth. This event took place between 13th to 15th September, 2010 at Tianjin. During the event WEF profiled Karnataka in the main zone of the meeting venue, which is dedicated to showcase a select group of regions and cities.
