THE CPM, which is stripped of the Christian and Muslim vote-banks which it had built-up in past two decades, is trying to cloth itself with the jehadi fig leaf by torpedoing terror probes, under investigation by NIA and Karnataka police.

Due to the under-cover operations of Karnataka Police and dynamic Bengaluru Police Commissioner Shankar Bidri, dreaded terrorists T Nazeer and Shafaz were flushed out from Bangladesh and brought to Karnataka. They were the kingpins of various blasts in various parts of India including Bengaluru (2008). They were also involved in spreading terror in Kashmir and several places in Kerala. Nazeer was the bodyguard of Madhani and had burnt a Tamil Nadu bus on instructions from Madhani’s wife Soufiya.

NIA and Karnataka Police handed over Nazeer and Shafaz to Kerala Police for questioning in Kerala terror related cases.

Nazeer had earlier admitted to NIA, IB and Karnataka Police of the link with Hizbul, Laskar and their links with Madhani and his role in the Bengaluru blasts. Bengaluru courts have issued non-bailable warrant against Madhani. Madhani is hiding in his strong hold in Kollam, to precipitate riotous situation, when he would be arrested and CPM is giving full support to him.

CPM has given covert support to Madhani by parading Nazeer and Shafaz without face-masks and allowing them to interact with media. They have given clean chit to Madhani, while talking to media. Madhani has taken up this issue and is accusing Karnataka Police, BJP and IB of falsely implicating him.

Fearing loss of Muslim votes for Congress, Union Minister of State for Home, Mullapally Ramachandran has said that Madhani’s charge against IB will be probed! The Congress gives more importance to the mad rantings of a terrorist, than the investigation agencies of the nation. Whither goes our state?

The NIA, IB, RAW and Karnataka Police have taken strong exception to terrorists being taken around without face-mask and allowing them to interact with media. They have informed NIA courts and Centre. Centre has already taken up this issue with Kerala’s Home Minister.

Meanwhile reports have come of IG Tomin Thachankery meeting with most wanted terrorists, hiding in Gulf, during his recent visit there. This trip was itself mired in controversy as he accompanied CPM’s Pinarayi Vijayan, during his collection drive among Keralite NRIs. He had lied he was going to North-East for holidays, but he went to Gulf with Pinarayi without government permission. Chief Minister VS Atchudanandan had suspended him. He had earlier smuggled crores worth of electronic equipments for CPM’s Kairali Channel and is a blue-eyed boy of Pinarayi Vijayan. He was also earlier involved in smuggling of weapons in containers.

With Centre taking strong stand on an IG’s terror link, both the CPM and Church led Christian lobby are working overtime to bury this case. The Church is moving through top Christian Congress leaders to hush up this case.

In the words of Bengaluru Police Chief, terrorists should be kept in prisons and not paraded around in open. With the CPM and Congress, all out to woo the jehadis of the likes of Madhani and Nazeer, ‘Gods’ own country’ is becoming ‘Terrors own Country’. More so, reports have come that LTTE is regrouping in Tamil pockets of Kerala and there is a possibility of Jehadi-LTTE-Maoist gang-up!
