“SEPARATISM in Kashmir has increased to the proportion that the real issue today is total integration of the region with rest of the country and not the special status granted through Article 370. The whole country needs to work for total integration of Kashmir today,” said RSS Akhil Bharatiya Pracharak Pramukh Shri Madan Das. He was speaking at a function organised in New Delhi by Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch to release a Hindi book, Vyathit Jammu-Kashmir, written by Shri Narendra Sehgal, on March 20. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Shri Arun Jaitley and former Governor of J&K Shri Jagmohan were also present on the occasion.

Describing separatism in Kashmir as man-made problem, Shri Madan Das said the country suffered the most because of wrong polices of Pt Nehru and now such policies should not continue. “The separatism started after the death of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee continues even today. We lost many opportunities to resolve the issue and still we are not following the right track on Kashmir. It is a general perception that the number of patriotic citizens should be more in the border areas. China is doing the same in Tibet by increasing the number of its citizens from other parts of the country. We may call it wrong, but as part of the international policy it is right. We should draw a lesson from it,” he said.

Shri Arun Jaitley also said the total integration of Kashmir is the real issue and not the Article 370. Coming down heavily on the Working Group on J&K constituted under Justice (retd.) Sageer Ahemd by Prime Minister, Shri Jaitley said the Group promoted the feeling of separatism and disintegration. Without holding proper discussion with people, this group recently submitted its report to the government. The honesty of the Group itself appears suspicious. The talks of more autonomy, self-rule, dual currency or withdrawal of military from the state have nothing to do with the real issue. “This is basically an attempt to decrease the constitutional interference of India in Kashmir. Through such acts, the central government appears to continue the wrong polices of Pt Nehru, which will make the problem more complicated,” he said.

He said the history has proved Pt Nehru wrong on Kashmir issue. “The history has now to decide whether Pt Nehru was right on Kashmir or Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee. The 63 years of separate status to Kashmir have culminated in widespread separatism in valley today. Pakistan knows it well that it cannot defeat India in direct war it, is now openly promoting separatism in Kashmir. It is being done under a well-planned strategy,” he said.

Shri Jagmohan said the country needs fundamental change as it is continuously ignoring the fundamental problems which are damaging the social and national fabric the most. Despite taking many steps, creating many institutions like CBI, Comptroller and Auditor General, Election Commission, etc. the corruption is increasing day-by-day.

Earlier, introducing the book, Shri Narendra Sehgal said the biggest tragedy with Kashmir is that its original habitants have been displaced and those who supported the invaders have now become real owners of state. That is why there is no attempt to resolve the real problem.

Former Governor of Sikkim and Goa Shri Kidar Nath Sahni, senior Sangh Pracharak Thakur Ram Singh, Delhi BJP president Shri OP Kohli, president of Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch Shri TN Rajdan and many other distinguished personalities of Delhi and from the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community were also present on the occasion.
