VETERAN Pracharak and renowned social activist Manmohan Roy passed away at Siliguri Sangh Karyalaya on January 6. He was 80. Born at Saldihi village in the then East Bengal in 1929, his father migrated to Belakoba, a village in Jalpaiguri. After the Partition, Bengali Hindu refugees were coming from East Pakistan and Bastuhara Sahayata Samiti was formed to serve them by the then RSS Kshetra Pracharak Shri Eknath Ranade. Manmohan Roy became a swayamsevak in very young age. After some time he became a Pracharak and was Bankura Zila Pracharak for 11 years. He then joined the BJP and became state secretary and then vice president of West Bengal unit. He contested parliamentary elections from Balurghat reserved constituency for three times. He led Kuchlibari Sangram Samiti formed to obstruct Tinbigha transfer to Bangladesh.
