Fourteenth national Vanvasi sports meet of Kalyan Ashram began in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, on December 28. Dr Rajiv Bindal, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, inaugurated the meet by hoisting the flag, receiving of sports mashal and lighting the lamp before the portrait of Bharat Mata and founder of Kalyan Ashram Bala Saheb Despandey. A total of 384 players from 25 states are participating in the meet.
Joint general secretary of the Kalyan Ashram Shri Kripa Prasad Singh pointed out that a total of 2340 sports centers are working in Vanvasi regions to promote various sports including Kabaddi, Khokho, archery and marathon race. Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included president of Kalyan Ashram Shri Jagdevram Oraon, vice president Shri Moren Singh Purti, Shri Laxmanrao Pardiker from Nagpur, national sports incharge Shri Shaktipad Thakur, Shri Chodan Lama from Kinnaur and Shri Himmat Singh from Rajasthan.
