Tribute to Dr Om Prakash Mengi

A condolence meeting was organised at Geeta Bhavan in Jammu to pay tribute Dr Omprakash Mengi who passed away on November 14. Veteran swayamsevak Shri Onkar Nath Kak recalled his association with Dr Mengi since 1950. Shri Kak happened to come to Jammu as Sangh Pracharak from Kashmir Valley and since there was no Sangh Karyalaya in Jammu at that time Dr Mengi provided him shelter for many years. Senior Sangh functionary Shri Indresh Kumar spoke about spiritual aspects of Dr Mengi’s life and pointed out that he had deep interest in dhyan and pranayam. He said Dr Mengi was a staunch worker of RSS in the region. He took part in 1952-53 agitation started by Pt Prem Nath Dogra and cow protection movement of 1966-67 in Delhi. He described Dr Mengi a man of conviction and dedication. “In his demise we have lost a great patriot, a great well-wisher of J&K specially for Hindus of Jammu,” he said.
