Sewa Bharati has started a hostel for the children orphaned by the terrorists and during the devastated earthquake in Jammu and Kashmir. The building of the hostel was built from local support and donations from the IDRF (USA) through Sewa International India. Situated near the holy town Katra, the base camp of Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra, the hostel has five rooms. There is a playground for plantation, gaushala, gymnasium and job-orientated courses for the inmates. The children are introduced to nature study by engaging them in plantation and water harvesting programmes. Apart from providing academic guidance through coaching after the school hours, the children are also introduced to the ancient Indian culture, history, samskars and other activities through weekly meetings. The overall efforts of the Sewa Bharati are to uplift the children and to make them responsible citizens.
