RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat said the RSS fully supports the issues raised by the saints for the betterment of the nation. He was speaking at a function held at Patanjali Yogapeeth in Haridwar on April 1. Shri Bhagwat lauded Baba Ramdev for the campaigns he launched and said, ?You continue with the yoga and yogya and we will see that no demon harm it.?

The three-day function marked the inauguration of second phase of Patanjali Yogapeeth, a world-class institute set-up for promotion of yoga and Ayurveda. Saints from across the country, representing various sects of Hinduism, supported Baba Ramdev'sefforts to rejuvenate India and to restore its past glory.

The Dalai Lama, former RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri KS Sudarshan, newly elected Sarkaryavah of RSS Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi and VHP president Shri Ashok Singhal also promised their full support to the campaigns to safeguard Indian values and culture.

Shri KS Sudarshan said Baba Ramdev has been doing the greatest service to humanity through his mission of spreading yoga and Ayurveda in the country as well as in all nooks and corners of the world. He said Baba Ramdev'sefforts should be praised and be fully supported. ?He has been carrying out the work of God and that is why he is becoming popular all over the world. Every culture has to face rise and fall. With the beginning of Kaliyuga, Sanatan civilisation flourished for 1200 years but after reaching its peak, it started going towards decline due to several reasons. But again with the birth of Lord Buddha, Sanatan culture spread and flourished in the world. In this regard Jagatguru Shankaracharya, Lord Mahavir, Swami Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Swami Vivekanand contributed a lot in spreading the Hindu culture and its values in the entire world,? he said. He hoped that again in 2011, India would shine in the whole world for her culture, civilisation and dynamic philosophy.

Shri Ashok Singhal said India should not be called a secular country. Rather, it ought to be declared a spiritual country. He said we should jointly take the initiative of raising the issues of Ganga protection, Ram Sethu and Shri Ramjanmabhoomi. He asserted that VHP would never allow the demonic powers to dominate the polity of India. Baba Ramdev assured VHP supremo that yoga classes, which were being started in 6,02,365 villages of India, would ensure restoration of the country'sspiritual character. Madhvachary Swami Vishweshteerth, Swami Gurusharnanand, Sadhvi Ritambhara, Akal Takht representative Gyani Guru Bachan Singh, Swami Dayanand Saraswati and Swami Chidanand Muni were also among the other saints who addressed the gathering.

The Dalai Lama said the followers of all the ways of worships are living in the country together in peace and harmony for thousands of years. He urged the gathering that they should preach the liberal traditions, culture of tolerance and peaceful existence of different religions. He also said teaching of non-violence was highly relevant in the modern age of tension, conflict and increasing threat of terrorism. The Dalai Lama further said he is a true son of India and it was here that he found food, clothing, shelter and safety for his religion and the Tibetan people. He further said wherever he went, be it the US, UK or Australia, he went as a messenger of India and represented Indian thinking.

Baba Ramdev said India'sstrength lies in her multicultural traditions and composite religious thought. He said man should not give up his human nature. He should free himself from all passions, as they are the main cause of his mental and physical aches and problems. If man is unable to conquer his passions and senses, it becomes unable for him to face the struggle and problems of life. It is the duty of man to develop the power of restrain, which is the characteristic of human beings.
