Saksham, formerly known as Akhil Bharatiya Drishtihin Kalyan Sangh, organised a function in Varanasi on August 17 at Hanuman Prasad Poddhar Andh Vidyalaya. RSS National Executive Member Shri Indresh Kumar was the distinguished guest on the occasion. He also presented a brailer and Rs 1100 to Shri Govardhanlal Jhavar, manager of the school. Dr Kamlesh, national organising secretary of Saksham pointed out that Drishtihin Kalyan Sangh has been renamed as ?Saksham?. He said visually challenged people are not burden on the society and these people need help and not mercy for their development. He said Saksham has launched a number of projects for making the visually challenged people able and self-reliant. The organisation has set up 37 Eye Banks across the country. He said eyes in Sri Lanka are national property and the country supplies cornea to 62 countries of the world. India also imports corneas from Sri Lanka. He stressed the need to eradicate the misconceptions connected with eye donation. Dr Vinda Parojay was the chief guest at the function. Shri Ramesh Kumar Chaudhary, president Marvadi Yuvak Sangh, presided over the function.
