OPPOSITION Leader Shri L.K. Advani recently released the Kamal Visheshank Sanklap, both Hindi and English in Delhi. Top intellectuals and academics of the country contributed on important issues of nationalism, internal security, ideology, minority appeasement and the like. Shri Advani said the special volume is an issue that must be read by everyone. It is bound to ignite the imagination and thought of every right-thinking Indian.

Launching a scathing attack on UPA, Shri Advani said the country is passing through a phase of uncertainty. But one thing is certain, he said, ?UPA government will not last till 2009?.

The senior BJP leader enumerated four principal failures of UPA government. One, it has failed to control prices. Two, it has endangered internal security. Three, it has staked country'scommunal harmony because of minority appeasement and fourth, UPA has presented an alliance of what should never be a model.

Shri L. K. Advani concentrated his speech on the theme of nationalism, democracy, internal security and national integrity. He narrated how Dr. Mookerjee sacrificed his life to the cause of nationalism and fighting against Do Nishan, Do Vidhan and Do Pradhan in the country which were sowing the seeds of disunity and disintegration in the country. He recalled how Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had integrated over 560 states into the Indian Union and the only one that Shri Jawaharlal Nehru did not allow Shri Patel to deal and himself looked after was Jammu & Kashmir which continues to be a sore point even today after 60 years.

Shri Lal Krishna Advani eulogised the services of the editorial team of both the fortnightlies, Kamal Sandesh, English and Hindi, for straining every nerve to bring out such a magnificent issue of Sanklap. In recognition of their services, Shri Advani honoured Shri Amba Charan Vashishth and Shri Satya Pal by presenting them a shawl and shrifal each.

BJP National Secretary Shri Prabhat Jha, who edited the special volume, dwelt at length on the activities of the Mookerjee Smriti Nyas, aimed at propagating the spirit of nationalism, particularly in the field of publications. He said that the Nyas, besides coming out with annual Visheshanks during the last four years, had been publishing two fortnightlies, Kamal Sandesh separately in Hindi and English which commanded a combined circulation of 1.86 lakh per month.

Nyas President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu also took to task Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Shri M. Karunanidhi, for his remarks against Sri Ram. He said that the sense of nationalism was under attack from all sides under the present UPA government at the Centre. He exhorted the people to rise to safeguard nationalism in the country and work for communal harmony.

BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Shri Ramlal exhorted the audience to cultivate the habit of good reading. He said the first difficulty was to find good writers. If they were found, there was dearth of good readers who can understand and analyse things. He appreciated that the Nyas was doing a good job in filling this void.

Prominent among the writers who attended the function included former Governor, Shri Amolak Rattan Kohli, Shri Joginder Singh, Prakash Singh, Dr. S.C. Kashyap, A.N. Jha, ex-governor, Shankar Sharan, Balbir K. Punj, Prof. Hari Om, Avdhesh Kumar, R. Balashankar, Om Prakash Kohli, Prodyut Vora, Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Sarvshri Kedar Nath Sahni, Vinod Pandey, Ashwani Kumar, Delhi Mayor Ms. Arti Mehra, and many other luminaries.
