?Dr Swaraj Prakash Gupta was a true patriot and dedicated his entire life for the cause of the motherland, in search of the true facts of the history of this nation. The precious contribution of Dr S.P. Gupta would be remembered whenever the history distorted by Britishers would be rewritten. His intellectual brilliance, originality and dynamism had established him as an international-level archaeologist?, said Shri K.S. Sudarshan, Sarsanghachalak of RSS, while paying his rich tributes to Dr S.P. Gupta at the Indian Archaeological Society, Qutub Institutional area, New Delhi.

Shri Sudarshan remembered the meeting of September 20, 2007, when he visited Dr Gupta in ?Rockland hospital?, thus ?Dr Gupta said, Lungs have stopped functioning. Now the life is solely dependent on the oxygen cylinder. This will add to the expenses to the tune of Rs 30,000 per month. If Shri Advani being the Leader of Opposition could make some arrangement from the government in this regard, it would be better. I have yet to finish many unfinished tasks, although I have written my will yesterday. I have to write four more books on Indian civilisation and before this I would not die.?

Shri Sudarshan elaborated on the outstanding role of Dr Gupta during Ramjanmabhoomi agitation, in excavating the site and unearthing the historicity of the Hindu claim on the disputed land. Archaeological Survey of India was fully agreed with the report of Dr Gupta that there were clear proof of a desecrated temple at the site and that the disputed structure was built on its ruins, he added.

Sarsanghchalak of RSS also praised Dr Gupta for excavations in Asia and Harappan sites, the findings of which authentically established the existence of the Saraswati river civilisation, demolishing the myth of the so-called Aryan invasion theory. Dr Gupta also had given valuable information on Ram Sethu for which the controversy is going on, Shri Sudarshan said.

Acharya Giriraj Kishore while paying tributes to Dr Gupta, said that lying on the deathbed in the hospital in Delhi, Dr Gupta had given him the detailed sketch of the Ram Sethu. Shri Kishore added that the nation would remember him for his outstanding contribution in the field of study of history of this nation.

Sushree Vandana Kaushik, while paying her tribute to Dr Gupta said that he (Dr Gupta) was a hard taskmaster. He never allowed any copy of the lower quality in the journal of History Today. She added that as a historian, Dr Gupta encouraged the researchers from any school of thought and it is really admirable.

Prof Arun Kesharwani, who is a family member of Dr Gupta said that Dr Gupta was a widely travelled scholar covering as many as 32 countries in the world. Besides some important books Dr Gupta had contributed more than 100 articles on Indian art and archaeology, which are still the source of information on archaeology for the scholars and students alike. He added that Dr Gupta had always been encouraging and generously helped young scholars and students to do hard work and contribute immensely to the development of Indian archaeology. Although, he was not well, he was trying hard to complete several projects which were in his hands but could not complete them due to his sudden demise, he added.

Among other prominent persons who paid tributes to the departed soul were Dr Bajranglal Gupt of RSS, Shri Ramesh Prakash, Sanghachalak of Delhi, Shri Prem Kumar, Prant pracharak, Delhi, Shri Rajendra Chaddha, joint national convener, Prajna Pravah, Shri Omkar Bhave of VHP, Prof. B.B.Lal, Shri O.P. Kejriwal, Prof Devendra Swarup, Shri Brijkishore Sharma, former union law secretary, Shri J.S. Rajput, former director, NCERT, Shri Lakhanlal Malhotra and Shri Sudershan Sareen, national working president of Baba Saheb Apte Smarak Samiti, Delhi.
