MUMBAI: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said in Mumbai that Gujarat has successfully transformed its loss-making sectors into profit-making ones by strictly implementing the policy of financial discipline. ?We have achieved the number one position in every field of development without imposing a single paisa tax on our citizens?, he added.
Shri Modi was speaking on a glittering occasion jointly organised by Mumbai-based Vande Mataram Foundation and Mumbai diamond industry in Shanmukhanand Auditorium at Matunga in Mumbai to felicitate ?The Best Chief Minister of India? recently. Describing his financial discipline policy he said Gujarat government has strictly controlled excessive expenditures made by government agencies and checked the leakages as well as malpractice in administration.
Giving an example of successful implementation of financial discipline in Gujarat he said the inter-state Bhilad RTO check post located on Ahmedabad-Mumbai national highway in Gujarat has earned Rs. 200 crore 52 lakh revenue more than its neighbouring counterpart the Achhad RTO check post in Maharashtra which is hardly two km away from Bhilad on the same highway in the last five financial years. Coming down heavily on Centre for playing with the emotions of Hindu community on Ram Sethu issue he said, no Hindu person will forgive those who have come out to eliminate the name of Lord Rama. He added that union government should be sued for filing a false affidavit first and then withdrawing it.
Former union finance minister Jashwant Singh and BJP general secretary Gopinath Munde depicted Shri Modi as an honest and competent administrator in present political scenario while felicitating him.
Shiv Sena vice president Uddhav Thakre considered Narendra Modi a reliable big brother. Maharashtra state BJP chief Nitin Gadkari and Vande Mataram Foundation president Anand Shanker Pandya also spoke on the occasion. Shri Modi was honoured by hundreds of diamond barons from Mumbai and Gujarat.
