BHUBANESWAR: State unit of RSS, VHP and BJP jointly hailed the Supreme Court order staying the ruling DMK-front'sstatewide bandh slated for October 1, 2007 on the Sethusamudram issue, and lashed out at the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi for politicising the issue. ?We welcome the Apex Court'sjudgment. Ram Sethu and Rameshwaram are matters of Hindu faith. No political party should be allowed to make an issue out of it,? VHP state secretary Gouri Prasad Rath said here. Charging the DMK patriarch, RSS state spokesman Simanchal Khatua said, ?By deciding to go on fast is being seen as a politically motivated decision and he is interested only in his political agenda even if it is fulfilled at other'scost?. ?Karunanidhi, by his deprecating references to ?Lord Rama?, had already shown his lethargy towards Hindu sentiments,? Khatua said. Karunanidhi'sfirmness upon the speedy completion of the Sethusamudram project only proves that he does not even care for the poor fishermen of his state, state BJP said.
Meanwhile, VHP sources said that Rameshwaram Ram Sethu Rakshak Dharmayodha recruitment drive would be held from October 12 to 25 here in the state to fight for protection of Ram Sethu. After the recruitment drive on October 26, there would be district-wise awareness campaigns, sources added. (FOC)
