Promoted by Life Development Foundation and Helpline Twenty First Century, an Indian Entrepreneurship Movement was launched by Union Minister of Labour and Employment Shri Oscar Fernandes in New Delhi on August 16. The objective of the movement is to create enormous opportunities of employment through entrepreneurship development across the country to eradicate unemployment, poverty and hunger. Inaugurating the movement, Shri Fernandes said that all possible support and cooperation would be provided for the success of the movement. He appreciated the initiative and said it is urgently called for reversing the most alarming situation of unemployment and poverty facing the nation. Dr Chandrapal, secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, stressed on skill development as a priority. Dr Shri Bhurelal, UPSC, felt that the movement is a step in right direction. He asserted that utmost care should be taken to build entrepreneurial environment with independent attitude to fight the hurdles and resist challenges. Shri Prabhat Kuamr, former Cabinet Secretary and Governor of Jharkhand, immensely praised the initiative and described it as a path to overcome a perennial problem. Shri A.R. Kohli, former governor of Mizoram, emphasised that the Indian entrepreneurship movement has been launched at a very appropriate time when our global spirit has moved from dependence to independence and from independence to interdependence. Welcoming the participants, Shri Sudarshan Sarin, president of Helpline Twenty First Century, stated that 26 per cent of the country'spopulation is living below poverty line, which needs urgent emphasis of employment generation through vocational training and skill-oriented employment opportunities. Shri Bhuvnesh Chaturvedi, chairman of Life Development Foundation, made and elaborates multi-media presentation on the purpose and objectives of the movement. (FOC)
