Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati has given a clarion call to save the holy bridge ?Sethu Bandh? established by Sri Ram during the Ramayan days. He has openly declared a war against the central government'smove for Sethusamudram Project. Talking to mediapersons in Bhubaneswar, he opined that the union government should not play with the religious sentiments of Hindus. Warning the UPA and its Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Swamiji thundered to throw Sonia'sdishonest company out of this holy land.

?Shri Ram Sethu is not a mere thing. It is the embodiment of Hindus divine faith. The union government has taken this deceitful step to destroy the divine faith of Hindus in collusion with some external anti-Hindu forces. Sonia Gandhi is the kingpin of that. Former Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee is also responsible for this, who did not pay any attention towards its preservation. Though BJP came to power through Hindu vote, after getting power it had forgotten about the Hindu interests. If Sonia'sUPA government will not give up this dharmadroha act, she will be thrown out from this holy land, and the saints of India will not hesitate to do this. For the protection of dharma, rashtra and satya we have invited all sadhus to join us for this cause,? he said.

For the protection of Ram Sethu, he appealed to all the saints, seers and dharmacharyas to come forward. ?Other three Shankara-charyas are ready to join us for this pious purpose. We four seers have already discussed about our future action plain.?

?VHP'sInternational President Shri Ashok Singhal also talked to us and assured us to render his full support in this movement. I came to know that tools are being imported to destroy Sethu Bandh,? he added.

Talking about his visit to Rashtrapati Bhawan, he said, ?We never go to any politician. But for the protection of Ram Sethu we met President Dr. Abdul Kalam. We were properly welcomed and honoured. The President expressed his sympathy with us but did not express anything regarding the solution.?

Answering to the Organiser'squestion as to why they have come in so late and about the role of seers now, Swamiji explained that he came to know about the Sethu during the last Kumbh Mela at Prayag. He also opined that if the four Shankaracharyas are united, India would stand as a super power. Now Swamiji is touring all over the country to organise Hindu forces, informed Pandit Rajeev Mishra, his secretary.
