Chennai witnessed a unique programme on August 19, when Sarsangha-chalak Shri K.S. Sudharshan released the Tamil translation of Shri Guruji Samagra titled ?Guruji Chintanai Kalanjiyam? in 12 volumes. The first copy was received by Shri N. Vittal, former Chief Vigilance Commissioner of India as well as Shri Nanjappa Chettiar, one of the oldest swayamsevaks of Tamil Nadu and one who had moved closely with Shri Guruji. The function was attended by about 2,000 distinguished personalities of Chennai.

Shri Vittal in his address said that during the freedom struggle there was great patriotic fervour in the country with hundreds of leaders dedicating themselves to the cause. ?Even after 59 years the fruits of freedom have not reached a large section of people. Terrorism is on the rise. Our culture, even though very ancient, is still very vibrant. The youth must emulate Swami Vivekananda who exhorted us to ?Arise, Awake, Stop not till the Goal is Reached?. This is the only way to make Bharat strong,? he said.

Shri Narayanan, former Union Finance Secretary said the rich are becoming richer and poor poorer, which gives rise to disaffection in the society. While the per capita income in Delhi is Rs.15,000 in Bihar it is Rs 4,000. ?Villages lack basic facilities like education and health care, which results in migration to cities. Illiteracy is rampant. Though there are hundreds of Engineering Colleges a majority of them lack standards. Similarly agriculture has not been given due importance. Competitive prices are not offered to agricultural produce. We must not depend on a few countries for our energy requirements. Alternate energy sources must be developed. If the economic policies aid such a situation then it will harm internal security,? he said.

Shri Sudarshan endorsed the views of Shri Narayanan on the undesirability of the increasing gap between the rich and the poor. Only if every citizen turns patriotic can the security of the country be guaranteed, he said. Reliance on other countries will not help our security. The computation of Gross Domestic Product does not take into account the contribution of millions of dutiful and toiling housewives. Western economy is overly centralised and injurious to the environment, while Bharatiya system is decentralised and eco friendly, he pointed out.

He further said if the illegal infiltration of Muslims from across the borders is not contained, Bharat will become a Muslim-majority nation by 2060. The attitude of Mahatma Gandhi in siding with fundamentalist Muslims like Maulana Mohammed Ali and Maulana Shoukat Ali during the Khilafat Movement was the catalyst for separatist tendencies of the Muslims. In fact Jinnah opposed Gandhiji on the question of support for the Khilafat Movement. Our neighbours are hostile to us. Hindus are pushed out from these countries. Out of 18 districts in Assam 10 have become Muslim-majority ones, he added.

Shri Sudarshan took exception to the way the state governments of Tamil Nadu and Kerala chose to treat notorious accused in bomb blast cases Madhani (now in Coimbatore jail) with kid gloves.

?Christian missionaries are busy converting the hapless poor Hindus to Christianity under the garb of NGOs and backed by big money from abroad. The Vanvasis are sought to be separated from the mainstream by raising the bogey of upper caste dominance. Mouthing phrases like ?Liberation Theology?, they are made to take to arms. This is another great danger faced by our country,? he said.

?Then there is the ?red danger??the maoist menace from Nepal to Karnataka baring its vicious fangs. The Maoists adopt the strategy based on the ideology of Che Guera which involves selecting a scheduled place deep inside the forest and befriending the locals and then brainwash them to take up arms against the government. Repeated lightning attacks on the police stations, post offices, etc are employed to demoralise the security forces. Unfortunately the leaders of some parties hobnob with such forces for electoral gains. The Congress won the last assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh with the help of Maoists. After coming to power the curbs on them were lifted. With such na?ve leaders there is no wonder that the security of the nation is at peril,? he said.

He said the communists supported the creation of Pakistan. During the 1962 war with China they shamelessly declared that Bharat was the aggressor and not China. They actively supported the maoist rebellion in Nepal. The result is that Nepal has lost the status of ?the only Hindu nation in the world?.

Shri Sudarshan said the July 18, 2005 nuclear deal with the USA is a total sell-out. Our nation has accepted the immutable IAEA inspection clause applicable to non-nuclear powers and not the voluntary and revocable one that is applicable to nuclear powers. A watertight separation of civil and military components has been agreed to, he said.

The country is facing a multi-pronged attack from anti-national forces. The only way out is for the people from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to develop a feeling of brotherly affection. Then only we can build a strong and vibrant Bharat and defeat the enemies both from inside and outside, he added.

Shri V. Srinivasan of the Alliance Publishers, a century old company known for its patriotic books, and a member of the state Shri Guruji Centenary Celebration Committee, welcomed the gathering. Shri R.V.S. Marimuthu, Samyukta Tamil Nadu Prant Sanghachalak and Working President of Shri Guruji Centenary Celebrations Committee, Tamil Nadu, was also present on the dais.

It is noteworthy that the entire initial stock of 3,000 copies of Shri Guruji Chintanai Kalanjiyam in Tamil priced at Rs. 2,000 per set, were sold out in no time. Further demands for the book are pouring in.
