A grand convention of Shiksha Bachao Andolan Samiti will be held in Delhi on July 9 to register its strong protest against the distortion in history textbooks published by NCERT. According to Shri Dinanath Batra, convener of the Samiti, a massive demonstration will also be staged at Jantar Mantar on July 19. Thousands of people are expected to participate in the convention. Besides prominent leaders of the Shiksha Bachao Andolan Samiti, former Union HRD Minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi and heads of various communities will address the convention. The convention will be followed by seminars, symposiums, demonstrations and burning of NCERT books all over the country. Formerly the Samiti had collected 30 lakh signatures from the parents, teachers and students and submitted a petition to the President requesting him to direct the government to withdraw the books.
