Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) and Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) have jointly carried out a mass awareness campaign across the country in two phases, i.e. from July 23 to August 9 and from September 17 to October 2. Now in the last phase of the campaign, a massive rally will be held at Ramlila grounds in Delhi on November 23, in which over one lakh labourers and farmers are expected to participate.

According to Shri Girish Awasthi, president of BMS, the prime aim of the rally is to draw the attention of WTO Ministerial conference scheduled to be held in Hong Kong from December 5. It will also pressurise the central government to desist from its anti-labourer and anti-farmer attitude. It is to be noted that the issues of curtailment of subsidy provided to the farmers of developing countries along with the opening of their markets for American and European countries will also be discussed at the Ministeral conference in Hong Kong. If both the issues are agreed upon at the meeting, the farmers of the developing countries will be compelled to commit suicide. Apart from this issue, the economic and industrial policies of the UPA government, like disinvestment of the profit-making PSUs, delay in bringing the social security bill for unorganised sector workers, abnormal increase in unemployment, no amendment in bonus Act, preference to contract labourers, etc, will also be highlighted at the rally.
