Sugham, an ardent worker of the Hindu Munnani and a member of the dalit community belonging to Ayyampalayam village of Palladam Taluka committed suicide on November 22. In a note left behind, he stated that he was laying down his life for the noble cause of Kanchi seer'simmediate release. He also stated that he knew that no one else could save his community from forcible conversion to other religious sects. (VSK Coimbatore)
