Taslimuddin was a proclaimed offender till last week. But the Bihar government decided to withdraw the case, adding a new modality of taking care of criminal charges. Nothing could be more sinister!

Arjun circus
The Arjun Singh'sHuman Resource Development Ministry has appointed S. Satyam to enquire into the affairs of National Council of Education Research and Training during the regime of J.S. Rajput. A 1961-batch retired IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, Satyam would submit his report within three months.

Olympian blues
India'sperformance so far at the Olympics, obviously except for the silver medal-winner, Rajyavardhan Rathore, has been dismal. Indian players have been lamenting the lack of facilities in the country. Actually the country needs Indian sports to get rid of non-sportsman administrators like K.P.S. Gill whereas at the same time to be careful of over-ambitious and self-promotional players like Milkha Singh, whose ambitions run faster than his athletic track record. Likewise, the hockey team'sperformance in the India-Holland match was pathetic and the match against South Africa team lacked cohesion and was more like a show of individual brilliance than collective effort. And the Indian Olympic Association with office-bearers like Suresh Kalmadi and Randhir Singh is more of a page-three affair; none of them are sportsmen. In other words, IOA represents Inept Olympic Association.

PM on PSUs
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has shot off letters to his cabinet colleagues on the subject of Public Sector Undertakings. Singh has asked ministers to be PSU (Please Stay Upright) and his fellow colleagues not to PSU (meaning Pilfer, Siphon or Use) the PSUs.
