Mohan Bhagwat, the RSS Sarkaryavah, recently visited Adi Badri, the udgamsthal (source) of River Saraswati in Haryana state, and the nearby archaeological excavation sites. He also visited the Saraswati kund and observed that the people of the region were even now immersing the remains of their dead in the Saraswati kund. He was however highly impressed to see the glaciated pebbles of different prove-nance at the recently excavated site, ABR-II, and felt convinced on the presence of a mighty river several centuries ago.

Shri Bhagwat performed puja of Goddess Saraswati, Lord Shiva and Vishnu at the udgam, Adi Kedarnath and Adi Badrinarayan Mandir respectively. He was accompanied by Rameshwarji, Haryana Prant Pracharak; Nandkumarji, Kurukshetra Vibhag Pracharak; Darshanlal Jain, president, Saraswati River Research Institute, Haryana; Vaibhav Garg, joint secretary; Lakshya Bindra, cashier; Rishab Kumar; Deepak Jain, Haryana state secretary of Laghu Udyog Bharati; and Sanjay Manjul, assistant archaeologist. Shri Bhagwat expressed satisfaction on the plans for construction of the Saraswati Park and Saraswati sarovar, which also include a museum and bathing ghats. (FOC)
