Agartala: Up to eleven intruders of Bangladesh and one citizen of India, who is a suspected tout, were detained by the BSF and Government Railway Police at two different Tripura sites. In the late hours of July 11, the Government Railway Police (GRP) detained eight illegal migrants of Bangladesh, one of them was a small child, at the Agartala Railway Station.
According to Tapas Das, the Officer-in-Charge of GRP, they had got information about Bangladeshi nationals crossing the border illegally and targeting to board a train at the Agartala Railway Station. “We have informed our men at train stations and discovered certain individuals in a questionable state based on the inputs. They have been apprehended, and during their initial interrogation, they have disclosed that they are citizens of Bangladesh who entered Tripura unlawfully, the spokesperson added. According to the official, they were travelling to different parts of India in pursuit of employment with forged Indian documents. “They are being questioned by us. They are identified as Md. Shimul Hossain (28), Nur Nahar Juma (23) and Taslima Kanum (24), Meenu Khatun (19), Ibrahim Hossain (24), Kalaroa District, Safikul Islam (32), Satkhira District, and Musamed Salina Begum (22) with her son Samim Reze (5).
On Wednesday, July 10, the Border Security Force (BSF) arrested five intruders from Bangladesh at the Agartala Railway Station. A Joint Operation Party made up of the Special Branch Police Station Amtali and the BSF Anti-Human Trafficking Unit conducted the operation. The people who were arrested, a mother and a minor among them, were stopped as they tried to board the Agartala – Lokmanya Tilak Express.

The names of the people in custody are Simul Hussain (28), Ibrahim Sardar (24), Selina Bibi (20), Samim Reja (9), and Md. Safiqul Islam (32). This episode is reminiscent of an operation that was carried out on June 30, 2024, at Agartala Railway Station, which resulted in the arrest of 11 Bangladeshi nationals, six of them were women with children. They were trying to enter India illegally with the intention of going to Kashmir and Bengaluru.
On the other hand, five Rohingya intruders from Bangladesh were taken into custody at the Agartala Railway Station on July 9, 2024. The Rohingya nationals came from Bangladesh into India without authorization. They were planning to travel to the national capital Delhi using forged Indian documents. There is a specific case that has been filed against them and investigations are on to bust the entire racket.
