ABVP releases manifesto for upcoming DUSU elections
NEW DELHI: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on September 13 released its manifesto for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, placing student welfare, safety, participation and academic outcomes at the centre of its vision for Delhi University. Built around the four pillars of ‘A–Awas, B–Bhagidari, V–Vishwas, P–Parinaam’, the manifesto focuses on safe and affordable student accommodation, women’s safety, greater student participation in university decision-making, academic reforms and expanded career opportunities. ABVP’s panel comprises Yash Dabas for President, Ishu Maurya for Vice President, Riya Chhawdi for Secretary and Lakshya Raj Singh for Joint Secretary. The panel’s voting sequence is 7-3-3-3. ABVP karyakartas and candidates are reaching out to students across colleges, hostels and PG accommodations, engaging with them on issues concerning their academic life, safety, accommodation and future opportunities.
Safe student accommodation remains a key focus of the manifesto, particularly in the wake of the Satya Niketan incident. ABVP has proposed the construction of new hostels, adequate hostel facilities for women students, a dedicated student accommodation cell and helpline, safety audits of PGs and hostels, strict implementation of fire-safety norms, and better access to basic facilities such as cleanliness, drinking water and internet connectivity. On women’s safety, the manifesto proposes stronger security patrols, pink booths, adequate women security personnel, improved lighting, common rooms for women students, sanitary napkin vending machines, gynaecologists at health centres and self-defence training. It also calls for stronger grievance redressal mechanisms, effective Internal Complaints Committees and legal assistance, along with dedicated support for students with disabilities, transgender students and students from the Northeast, as well as accessible mental health counselling and awareness services. The manifesto also places a strong emphasis on improving the academic experience at Delhi University. ABVP has called for timely and transparent examination results, supplementary examinations, access to evaluated answer scripts, greater transparency in internal assessment, student-friendly examination arrangements and timely issuance of degrees. To strengthen students’ transition from education to employment, the manifesto proposes greater opportunities through job fairs, industry and research-institution partnerships, training and internships, AI and digital-skills programmes, innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives.

ABVP’s presidential candidate Yash Dabas said, “The four pillars of our manifesto A-Awas, B-Bhagidari, V-Vishwas and P-Parinaam represent the issues that directly affect students’ lives and aspirations. While other organisations are caught up in internal differences and infighting, ABVP’s candidates are united and focused on taking up the concerns of students. Whether it is safe accommodation, women’s safety, student participation in university decision-making, academic reforms or career opportunities, our priority is to work on issues that have a direct bearing on students’ present and future. ABVP has consistently raised the issue of safe student accommodation after the Satya Niketan incident, and we will continue to pursue it with determination. With the support and trust of students, we appeal to them to vote for the complete ABVP panel on 7-3-3-3 and give us a 4-0 victory in DUSU.”

ABVP’s Vice Presidential candidate Ishu Maurya said, “Students are the primary stakeholders of the university, and their voices must have a meaningful place in decisions that affect them. We will work towards stronger student representation, accessible campuses for students with disabilities, equal opportunities and greater participation in academic and co-curricular activities. Our focus will be on creating mechanisms where students can raise their concerns and see effective action on them.”

ABVP’s Secretary candidate Riya Chhawdi said, “Women’s safety is fundamental to creating a genuinely student-friendly university. Better lighting, security patrols, pink booths, common rooms, sanitary napkin facilities and the availability of gynaecologists at health centres are important steps towards ensuring a safer campus. At the same time, grievance redressal mechanisms must be responsive and effective, so that every woman student can pursue her education and ambitions with confidence and without fear.”

ABVP’s Joint Secretary candidate Lakshyaraj Singh said, “A student’s hard work should be reflected in timely results and meaningful opportunities for the future. We will work for a more transparent and student-friendly examination system while expanding opportunities for employment, training, internships, digital skills and entrepreneurship. Our objective is to ensure that students not only receive a better academic experience but are also better prepared for the opportunities ahead.”
