Before filling the India Post GDS application form, candidates should keep their basic documents ready. India Post GDS Application Fee 2026

The application fee is Rs 100 for candidates who are required to pay it. The prescribed exemptions apply to eligible female, SC, ST, PwBD and Transwomen candidates, subject to the notification’s conditions.

What is the India Post GDS Salary 2026?

Under the India Post GDS recruitment, candidates are paid through the Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) instead of the regular Central Government employee pay structure. The India Post GDS salary ranges from Rs 12,000 to Rs 29,380 for Branch Postmaster (BPM) and Rs 10,000 to Rs 24,470 for Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevak.

India Post GDS Selection Process 2026

Candidates do not have to give any written exam or interview for India Post GDS recruitment. Candidates are selected based on their Class 10 marks or grades. The selection process includes preparation of a system generated merit list, shortlisting of candidates and document verification before engagement. Since the India Post GDS merit list is based on marks obtained in the Secondary School Examination, the GDS merit list and cutoff become important after the application process closes.

What Happens After the India Post GDS Application?

After the application window closes, India Post will process the applications and prepare the GDS merit list based on the prescribed Class 10 marks/grades. Candidates shortlisted in the merit list will subsequently have to undergo document verification. Therefore, candidates should keep their original certificates and required documents ready.

The Circle-wise and Division-wise vacancy position should also be checked on the official GDS portal because the notification refers to tentative vacancies in its annexures rather than providing one fixed vacancy figure in the main notification.
