The man accused of killing 21-year-old Delhi model Muskan has been arrested after a police encounter in West Delhi, bringing an end to the manhunt launched following the murder.
The accused, identified as Imran, was shot in both legs during the encounter and subsequently taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
Imran had been absconding since Muskan was allegedly stabbed to death inside her rented home in the New Mahavir Nagar area of Tilak Nagar.
According to police, Muskan was alone at home when she was attacked. She suffered multiple stab wounds and was rushed to a hospital, where she later died.
Muskan was student and part-time model
Muskan, 21, was a student who also worked part-time as a model.
Police had earlier said that Muskan and Imran knew each other. Imran had worked as a gym trainer at the gym where Muskan used to exercise.
Following the murder, police formed multiple teams to trace Imran and launched a search for him.
The search eventually led to the encounter in West Delhi, where police intercepted the accused. He was shot in both legs and taken into custody.
Imran had worked at Muskan’s gym
According to the owner of the gym where Muskan worked out, she had been a member of the facility for around six months before leaving after her membership expired.
Imran had also worked at the same gym as a trainer for a few months before quitting.
Police are now questioning Imran as part of the investigation into Muskan’s murder.
Motive under investigation
Police had earlier said that the exact motive behind the killing was yet to be established.
Investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the stabbing and the relationship between Muskan and Imran.
Muskan’s brother, Aakash, had earlier alleged that Imran was responsible for her death.
With Imran now in police custody, investigators are expected to question him about the events leading up to the murder and establish the sequence of events.
The investigation remains underway.
