Model Muskan (L) and accused Imran (R)
A 21-year-old woman, identified as Muskan, was stabbed to death inside her rented residence in New Mahavir Nagar area of Delhi’s Tilak Nagar on August 26, police said. Muskan was a student and also worked part-time as a model.
According to police, Muskan was alone on the second floor of the building when the accused entered her home and attacked her repeatedly with a knife.
Neighbours rushed to the house after hearing her screams and found her lying in a pool of blood. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The accused has been identified as Imran, a gym trainer who was known to Muskan. He is currently absconding, and multiple police teams have been formed to trace and arrest him.
Who was Muskan and what happened inside her home?
Muskan was the youngest of three sisters. According to her friend Aman, one of her elder sisters, who is currently in Chandigarh, called him after learning that Muskan had been stabbed and asked him to rush to the house.
Aman said he immediately asked another friend to reach the residence and help take Muskan to hospital. By the time he arrived, an ambulance had already taken her away.
Police said investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area to establish the sequence of events and trace the accused.
Imran’s connection to Muskan
Police said Muskan and Imran were known to each other. Imran had previously worked as a trainer at the gym Muskan attended.
Dimple, the gym owner, said Muskan had worked out at the gym for around six months before leaving after her membership expired. Imran, she said, had worked at the same gym as a trainer for around three to four months before quitting.
People close to Muskan’s family have alleged that Imran was responsible for the killing. Aman also claimed that Muskan’s sisters had previously told him that Imran used to harass her.
“He had done it a long time ago as well. And as this has happened now, the direct suspicion went on him,” Aman told reporters.
However, police have not yet established the motive for the murder, and the allegations of previous harassment remain part of the investigation.
Police search for accused
Delhi Police said Imran remains absconding and efforts are underway to locate him. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to determine what happened before and after the stabbing.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Western Range, Suman Goyal, said the exact reason behind the murder was still being ascertained.
The investigation is continuing.
