New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the Re-NEET 2026 results on July 16, bringing relief to nearly 20 lakh medical aspirants who appeared for the examination. One of the biggest highlights of this year’s results is the excellent performance of female candidates. More than 58 per cent of the students who qualified are girls. Overall, 11.21 lakh candidates have cleared the exam and are now eligible to take part in the admission process for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other undergraduate medical courses.

According to NTA, women also recorded a slightly higher qualification rate than men. Among those who appeared for the exam, 56.8 per cent of female candidates qualified, compared to 55.1 per cent of male candidates. The results show that girls have once again outperformed boys in one of India’s toughest medical entrance exams.

The top 138 rank holders came from 66 cities across the country. The 17 highest ranking candidates, who scored more than 705 marks, belong to Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

No doubt, this year’s results reflected stiff competition. As per the data shared by NTA, 19 students scored more than 700 out of 720 marks in the exam. Around 1,492 candidates scored 650 marks or above, while 10,160 students crossed the 600-mark mark. In addition, 90,780 candidates scored at least 500 marks. The highest score of 715 out of 720 was jointly secured by Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana.

Among the students who qualified, the OBC-NCL category had the highest number of successful candidates, with over 5.12 lakh students clearing the exam. This was followed by 2.91 lakh candidates from the General category. The results also showed that around 1.59 lakh SC candidates, 95,026 General-EWS candidates, and 63,716 ST candidates qualified for medical admissions. In addition, 3,666 Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and 303 Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates also cleared the NEET re-exam.

Candidates who have qualified will move to the counselling stage. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct counselling for All India Quota MBBS and BDS seats, while state counselling authorities will oversee admissions under their respective state quotas.
