DEHRADUN: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority at a program held on July 1 at the Chief Minister’s residence. On this occasion, he also distributed recognition certificates to various minority educational institutions.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also presented NCERT books to the students of minority schools and said that this initiative towards quality and modern education will provide a strong foundation for the future of the students.
The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand, besides being the land of gods, has a rich tradition of knowledge, education, and spirituality. This sacred land has imparted the message of knowledge and culture to the world for centuries. Therefore, it is the state’s responsibility to establish Uttarakhand as a role model for the country in the field of education.
He said that with this objective, the state government has established the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority, effective July 1, 2026, to provide quality, modern, and cultured education to all sections of society. Additionally, the Madrasa Board has been abolished, and a new system has been implemented.
The Chief Minister said that this is not just the launch of an institution, but a decision that will lay a strong foundation for a bright future for every child in the state. The government’s goal is to ensure that every child has equal opportunities and can progress through modern education, technology, and skills.
He said that the present time is an era of knowledge, innovation, and technology. AI, machine learning, digital technology, and new skills are shaping the future. Therefore, it is essential that no child in Uttarakhand is left behind in this journey of development.
The Chief Minister clarified that the Minority Education Authority was not established to impact the identity or traditions of any community, but to provide better educational opportunities to all sections of society. The government’s effort is to ensure that children become proficient in science, mathematics, computers, skill development, and modern education while remaining connected to their cultural roots.
He said that education is not just a means to gain employment, but is also the most effective tool to empower, self-reliant, and aware society. With quality education, young people not only improve their lives but also make a significant contribution to nation-building.
The Chief Minister said that under the new system, all notified minority communities will be provided equal opportunities. Those groups that were not adequately represented under the previous system will now also receive equal opportunities in the field of education.
He said that the National Education Policy-2020, implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given a new direction to the country’s education system. This policy is not limited to degrees alone, but emphasizes skills, innovation, research, entrepreneurship, and employment linkages.
The Chief Minister said that the Uttarakhand Government is promoting digital education, smart classrooms, skill development, startups and modern training so that the youth of the state can be prepared for the challenges of the future.
He said that Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority will not only be a recognition giving body but will also become a strong medium for quality education, teacher training, transparent system and effective implementation of the National Education Policy.
The Chief Minister said that the institutions being recognized today are not merely receiving certificates but are also becoming participants in a new thinking and new system in the field of education. These institutions have a responsibility to prepare knowledgeable, cultured, sensitive, and dedicated citizens.
He said that India’s greatest strength lies in its unity in diversity. Despite different languages, cultures, and traditions, Indianness is a unifying force. The state government is working in this spirit for the development of all sections of society.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that in the coming years this authority will bring positive change in the lives of thousands of children and will make Uttarakhand a leading state in the field of quality and inclusive education.
He appealed to religious leaders, educationists, educational institutions and enlightened citizens of the society to cooperate in making this initiative successful.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, MLA Shri Pradeep Batra, MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Special Secretary Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate, Chairman of Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority Dr Surjeet Singh along with public representatives, religious leaders of various minority communities, educationists and managers of educational institutions were present.
