CHANDIGARH: On June 2, 2026, a grenade attack at a private hospital in Punjab‘s Gurdaspur district triggered panic in the area after the explosion damaged parts of the building. The blast shattered windowpanes and damaged the glass door of the emergency ward, though fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

According to police officials, the attack took place at Multani Hospital in Kalanaur town. Around 2:30 pm, Kalanaur Police Station received a report of a loud explosion near the hospital, which is close to the local bus stand.

Punjab Police launched an immediate investigation and, within a few hours, arrested a suspect believed to be involved in the attack. Officials said the accused has links to a foreign-based handler.
Speaking to ANI, Sharma said that the Station House Officer (SHO) and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) inspected the scene, and the forensic team later confirmed that a grenade had been used in the attack.
