Bhubaneswar: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) concluded its three-day National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Bhubaneswar, held from May 29 to 31 in the sacred city associated with Mahaprabhu Jagannath. The meeting witnessed participation of more than 400 representatives from 46 prants across the country.
During the session, the organisation adopted four major resolutions focusing on educational reforms, national security challenges, women’s safety, and global developments. The council also outlined a series of nationwide campaigns aimed at youth engagement and cultural awareness.
Key Resolutions Adopted
The NEC passed resolutions titled “Effective Ground-Level Implementation is Necessary to Make Educational Reforms Successful”, “Urban Maoism: A Serious Challenge in the End Phase of Armed Maoism”, “Curbing the Exploitation and Religious Conversion of Women by Organised Criminal Networks and Jihadi Elements”, and “Collective National Resolve of Restraint and Vigilance in Times of Global Uncertainty is the Need of the Hour.”
According to ABVP, these resolutions reflect its concerns over contemporary educational challenges, internal security issues, and broader socio-political developments affecting the country.
Prior to the NEC meeting, the Central Working Committee (CWC) adopted a congratulatory resolution appreciating the people of West Bengal for “restoring democratic values.”
Focus on Education and Innovation
The organisation also called upon Indian industry to increase investment in Research and Development (R&D) to accelerate the vision of a developed India. Discussions emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between educational institutions, youth, and industry to promote innovation and build a knowledge-driven economy.
Extensive deliberations were held on issues related to the national education system, socio-economic challenges, youth participation, and national security concerns. The meeting also reviewed organisational decisions taken during earlier national-level consultations and assessed ongoing campaigns and activities.
A detailed action plan for the upcoming year was finalized, focusing on expanding student engagement and strengthening ABVP’s organisational outreach across educational institutions.
Nationwide Campaigns Announced
As part of its future outreach initiatives, ABVP announced a series of nationwide campaigns aimed at youth mobilization and cultural awareness. These include “Screen Time to Activity Time,” encouraging students to reduce digital dependency and adopt physical and productive activities.
The organisation will also commemorate 150 years of “Vande Mataram,” alongside year-long observances marking significant historical and cultural milestones such as the 50th anniversary of resistance to the Emergency, the 350th Balidan Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, and the 650th Prakatyotsav of Sant Ravidas Ji.
Additionally, ABVP will organize programmes under “SEIL@60”, marking 60 years of Students’ Experience in Inter-State Living (SEIL), a national integration initiative designed to promote cultural exchange among students across states.
ABVP National General Secretary Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki stated that the resolutions adopted during the NEC meeting reflect the organisation’s broader vision for a “developed, secure, and self-reliant Bharat.”
He said the meeting focused on strengthening the education system, addressing emerging security challenges such as “urban Maoism,” and ensuring the protection of women from exploitation and organised criminal activities. He also emphasized the need for vigilance in the face of global uncertainties.
Highlighting the role of youth in nation-building, Solanki said that coordinated efforts between students, universities, and industry are essential for transforming India into a global leader in innovation and a knowledge-based economy. He urged greater private sector participation in research and development to support long-term national growth.
The three-day NEC meeting concluded with a collective call to strengthen educational reforms, enhance youth participation in nation-building, and promote cultural and national integration through sustained campaigns. ABVP reiterated its commitment to mobilizing students across the country to contribute to India’s development journey.
