Mumbai: Namokar Mantra is a universal mantra that awakens peace, harmony, and spiritual consciousness across the world, said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale while addressing the inaugural ceremony of artist Jain Kamal’s exhibition “Namokar Mahamantra for World Peace” at Jehangir Art Gallery on May 27, 2026.

He stated that the mantra serves as a medium for inner peace and positivity for humanity.

Praising the artistic work of Jain Kamal, he said that through various scripts and artistic forms, the artist has not merely presented paintings but has symbolically manifested an entire spiritual creation through the Namokar Mantra. He remarked that art is not only a visual experience but also a form of spiritual sadhana that deeply touches the soul. According to him, the exhibition offers a journey from the external world towards inner consciousness.

He said that in Bharatiya culture, letters and mantras are not merely words or sounds, but symbols of eternal consciousness and spiritual energy. Mantras, he explained, are not human creations but revelations experienced by sages through divine realisation, which makes them timeless in significance. Referring to the concept of “Akshara,” he said that letters are called Akshara because they are imperishable, and therefore mantras formed through them are also eternal and indestructible.

He further stated that Bharatiya sages were not limited to viewing only the present, but were visionaries who perceived the past, present, and future in totality. Through their spiritual experiences, mantras emerged and provided direction to society.

Explaining the significance of the Namokar Mahamantra, he recalled an incident from the period of the Emergency and the Jayaprakash Narayan movement during imprisonment in Bengaluru jail. He narrated that detainees belonging to different faiths regularly recited the Namokar Mantra, which fostered unity, inner strength, and harmony among them.

He added that the mantra inspires individuals towards self-reflection, self-purification, and spiritual discipline. He also explained that the Namokar Mantra does not worship any individual personality but bows before the virtues of the Panch Parmeshthi — Arihant, Siddha, Acharya, Upadhyaya, and Sadhu.
He further observed that the mantra gives human beings the strength to overcome the six internal enemies anger, greed, attachment, ego, and jealousy. He appreciated Jain Kamal for presenting the spiritual essence of the mantra through diverse artistic expressions that bring joy to the mind and spiritual bliss to the soul.

Artist Jain Kamal stated that every artwork in the exhibition offers viewers a unique spiritual and artistic experience. Jain Muni Nayapadmasagar Surishwar Ji Maharaj remarked that the Namokar Mahamantra is a universal mantra and a medium for inner purification, adding that collective spiritual practice and spiritual strength can significantly contribute towards human welfare and global peace.
