Cow slaughter & insult to Sanatan is unbearable; Hindus ready to go to any extent for cow protection: Dr Surendra Jain

Ahead of Bakrid celebrations, Vishva Hindu Parishad's (VHP) Dr Surendra Jain issued a sharp statement opposing cow slaughter and accusing sections of the Muslim community of repeatedly hurting Hindu religious sentiments through demands linked to animal sacrifice and related public discourse

New Delhi, May 27, 2026:  On the occasion of Bakrid, the central joint general secretary of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Dr. Surendra Jain, has given a stern warming to the Muslim community if they insist on cow slaughter and fabricate specious arguments in its favour. He said that the entire Hindu society worships the cow as mother. Despite this, holding on to such stubbornness is extremely unfortunate. New arguments are being concocted every day to cover up their misdeeds, hurting the sentiments of Hindu society.

Raised Questions on Insult to Sanatan and National Symbols

Strongly objecting to the recent specious argument demanding the declaration of Gau Mata as the ‘national animal’, the VHP’s central joint general secretary said that addressing Gau Mata  merely as an ‘animal’ is an insult to Mother Cow and the entire Hindu society. Targeting jihadis, he said that their attitude towards the symbols of the nation and Sanatan is well-known. Even after court and government orders are issued, ‘Vande Mataram’ is insulted, and even today, the national anthem is not sung in many madrasas. In such a situation, no one can trust the words of this radical section.

Referenced Past Incidents and Law Violations

Dr. Surendra Jain, referring to the 2017 animal slaughter regulation guidelines, reminded that when the government made the rules, cows were openly slaughtered in states like Kerala and Bengal (where governments were favorable to cow slaughterers). The vulgar and absurd demonstrations carried out across the country with the severed head of Gau Mata in hand were extremely unfortunate and condemnable.

Hindu Society Can Go to Any Extent

The VHP’s central joint general secretary warned in clear terms that it is wrong to insist on such stubbornness despite anti-cow slaughter laws being in force in more than half of the country’s area. Hindu society will not tolerate cow slaughter at any cost. Reminding of history, he said that Hindu society had revolted in the 1857 revolution precisely for the protection of Mother Cow. Dr. Surendra Jain firmly warned that for the protection of their faith and Mother Cow, Hindu society can go to any extent.

Respect Essential for Coexistence

Concluding the statement, Dr. Surendra Jain gave the message that if peaceful coexistence is to be maintained in society, radicals too will have to learn to respect the religious sentiments and faith of other communities. Abandoning jihadi stubbornness and respecting others’ sentiments is in their own interest.
