DEORIA: In a major push for public welfare and regional development, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday visited the sacred land of Deoria, the revered site of the late Devraha Baba’s tapobhumi to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of 19 development projects worth over ₹655 crore. The event held at Bhimpur Gaura also saw the distribution of certificates to beneficiaries of various government schemes.

A Government of Solutions, Not Problems

Addressing a large public gathering, CM Yogi declared that his government is not one that avoids problems but one that delivers solutions and that is precisely why the people continue to choose it. He invoked the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that since 2014, India has witnessed the emergence of a ‘New India’, and taking forward that vision, the Uttar Pradesh government has rapidly prioritised infrastructure development because the faster the connectivity, the faster the benefits of development reach common people.

Connectivity Gets a Major Boost

One of the centrepiece announcements of the day was the Deoria–Kasia four-lane corridor. CM Yogi described the project as far more than a road, it will form part of the North-South connectivity network, linking Deoria with Mau, the Purvanchal Expressway, Varanasi and Lucknow, while also connecting to the Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway thereby transforming connectivity in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The Chief Minister recalled how during his earlier tenure as a Member of Parliament from Gorakhpur, the roads linking Gorakhpur and Deoria were in poor condition many stretches single-lane, and railway crossings caused hours of traffic delays. Today Deoria is connected through four-lane infrastructure and travel time between the two cities has significantly reduced while road projects connecting Deoria to Ballia are progressing rapidly.

The Chief Minister also confirmed that funds have been sanctioned for the Barhaj road, flyovers and bridge projects, and that construction of the Deoria bypass is progressing rapidly with all development works to be completed within fixed timelines.

Healthcare and Skill Development on the Agenda

Highlighting progress in social infrastructure, CM Yogi noted that a few years ago no one could have imagined Deoria would have a medical college but today, the government medical college named after Maharshi Deoraha Baba is fully operational and work on a new district hospital will begin soon.

On employment and skilling, the Chief Minister stressed that Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are being transformed into dynamic skill development centres where youth will be trained and linked directly with industries thereby increasing employment opportunities and strengthening the state economy.

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare

During the event, CM Yogi directed Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi to ensure that the Kushinagar Agricultural University, whose construction is nearly complete, becomes operational from the upcoming academic session with the aim of guiding farmers toward modern technology, lower input costs, and higher agricultural productivity. The Chief Minister reiterated that farmers receiving fair prices for their produce, including increased sugarcane rates, remains a key priority of the double engine government.

Transformation Since 2017

CM Yogi launched a sharp critique of the pre-2017 era, recalling that every district had active mafias, festivals were marked by disturbances, and land-grabbing was commonplace. He contrasted that period with present-day Uttar Pradesh, where law and order has been significantly strengthened, ensuring safety for women, traders and ordinary citizens alike.

The Rs 655.45 crore package represents a concerted push across infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare and public welfare reaffirming the state government’s stated commitment to youth employment, farmers’ welfare and women’s empowerment. The beneficiary certificate distribution at the event underscored the ground-level impact of schemes already in motion.

With Deoria now on the development map of Purvanchal, Yogi ji sent a clear signal the double engine government is building the foundation for an aspirational eastern Uttar Pradesh.
