The end of half a century of oppression—34 years of Left rule and 15 years of Trinamool Congress (ultra-Left). Today, the Hindus of West Bengal have been freed from intense mental oppression and have found peace. The soul of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee has also found peace, and West Bengal has attained true independence.
In 1977, the most significant mistake made by the respected Prafulla Chandra Sen was not allowing Janata Party candidates to contest the Panchayat elections under the Janata Party symbol. Instead, he forced all Janata Party candidates to contest as independents. However, the CPM contested the 1977 Lok Sabha elections on the largest number of seats using their own party symbol. All other parties (National Congress, Socialist Party, Jan Sangh, and other opposition groups) contested under the Janata Party’s “plough on shoulder farmer” symbol. Jan Sangh was given only one seat—Bankura. It is worth mentioning that CPI supported Indira Gandhi.
Later, in the Panchayat elections, since Janata Party candidates were independents, they could not use the party symbol. Meanwhile, CPM used their own party symbol in both Lok Sabha and Panchayat elections and convinced villagers that voting for that symbol meant voting for the Janata Party. Since they had used their own symbol in the Lok Sabha elections, people believed them and overwhelmingly voted for CPM in the
Panchayat elections.
Consolidating Commies
By the time Prafulla Babu realised his mistake, the entire Panchayat system of West Bengal had come under CPM control. This was reflected in the Assembly elections as well—with an absolute majority, followed by 34 years of misrule that caused irreversible damage to West Bengal.
In 2011, CPM’s “Harmad” forces, under the patronage of Trinamool, carried out all kinds of misdeeds for 15 years —feeding rotten meat, stealing food meant for prisoners, forcefully occupying most houses on Harish Chatterjee Street, stealing teachers’ jobs, Saradha and Narada scams, atrocities against women, coal theft, filing false cases against opposition political workers and leaders, 300 Hindus killed, disrespecting IAS and IPS officers, rejecting the Central Government and violating the Constitution, disregarding the country’s democratic system, even spreading propaganda against the Armed Forces, creating a culture of abusing the Prime Minister and Home Minister—leading to a horrifying daily life filled with uncertainty and brutal killings, worse than the 34 years of CPM rule.
Kudos to Centre: Saving Bengal
For a long time, workers in West Bengal failed to convey how dangerous Mamata Banerjee and her party was or to make the Central Government understand. But fortunately, the Centre finally understood and extended all possible support to save West Bengal.
This same Mamata had made false allegations against George Fernandes, rang bells at Brigade Parade Ground, and resigned from her central ministerial post, only to later accept it again symbolically by pleading. On February 18, 1975, at a meeting of Jayaprakash Narayan in front of University Institute Hall, she climbed onto the bonnet of his car and danced. That such a Mamata Banerjee became the Chief Minister of West Bengal—there can be no greater misfortune.
Today, immersed in corruption, at the time of her departure, I pray to God to spare her further suffering. It is difficult to attain power, and even more difficult to let it go. The reason for saying only “Joy Bangla” in West Bengal is to make people forget about the Partition of the country. With the support of foreign enemy nations, there was a plan to create a separate State combining West Bengal and East Bengal (Bangladesh), and the peace-loving people of West Bengal became victims of this.
Now, all of us should unite to revive the old cultural renaissance of West Bengal and restore its past glory and heritage—that should be our only goal.
