Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 10 launched a sharp attack on the Congress party during a BJP public meeting held at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds in Hyderabad, alleging that the party had become the centre of divisive politics in the country. Addressing a massive gathering, Modi accused the Congress of promoting Maoist ideology and claimed that people were now referring to the party as the “Muslim League Maoist Congress”.
The Prime Minister stated that Maoist terrorism had caused severe losses to the nation and said Telangana too had suffered for decades because of extremist violence. He alleged that Congress and Left parties had provided ideological backing to Maoists, which allowed the problem to continue for years.
Modi remarked that had the Telangana Police been given complete freedom earlier, Maoist terrorism could have been eliminated long ago. He asserted that under the NDA government, Telangana was now moving towards freedom from Maoist influence.
Modi declared that political change in Telangana had become inevitable and said the slogan “Abki Baar Telangana Lo Kuda BJP Prabhutvam” was turning into the people’s resolve.
Electoral win in West Bengal and Assam
Drawing comparisons with the BJP’s performance in West Bengal and Assam, the Prime Minister said Telangana’s people too wanted to put an end to family-based and corrupt politics. He accused both Congress and BRS of deceiving the people and claimed that the public was now looking towards the BJP for change.
Referring to the BJP’s recent political gains, Modi said people across the country were repeatedly expressing faith in the BJP’s development model and governance.
He highlighted the BJP’s hat-trick victory in Assam and the NDA’s return to power in Puducherry. He also cited the BJP’s performance in West Bengal, stating that the party’s rise there represented a rejection of dynastic and authoritarian politics.
The Prime Minister criticised Congress, alleging that the party had become synonymous with corruption, family rule, and weakening constitutional institutions. He further alleged that the Trinamool Congress had followed a similar path in West Bengal and said people were now rejecting such politics.
The euphoria in Hyderabad is going to give sleepless nights to Congress and BRS. Telangana is done with their outdated politics and misgovernance.

Recalling the BJP’s early political journey, Modi said Telangana held a special place in the party’s history. He noted that when the BJP had only two MPs nationally, one of them had been elected from Telangana.
He added that Telangana had stood with the BJP even when support elsewhere in the country was limited. Modi expressed confidence that the BJP would register a major victory in the state in the coming elections.
Centre’s development push in Telangana
Highlighting the Centre’s development push in Telangana, Modi reminded the audience that projects worth thousands of crores of rupees had been launched during his visit.
He stated that one among the 14 industrial corridors being developed across the country was coming up in Telangana. According to him, the Zaheerabad Industrial Area was emerging as a modern industrial ecosystem covering sectors ranging from automobile manufacturing to food processing, which would create employment opportunities for lakhs of youth and benefit farmers and the middle class.
The Prime Minister also announced that one of the seven PM MITRA textile parks approved nationwide was being established in Warangal. He said the project would strengthen Telangana’s textile sector and significantly benefit cotton farmers.
Modi added that the Centre had approved a massive mission aimed at increasing cotton production and improving quality, which would directly help lakhs of cotton farmers in the state.
Attacking the Congress party further, Modi alleged that while the BJP focused on development and employment generation, Congress concentrated on “deceptive politics”. He claimed that Congress governments first made false promises and later failed to fulfil them.
Citing Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka, he alleged that Congress had troubled people by not implementing its guarantees and said Telangana was witnessing a similar situation.
Modi on global economic challenges
The Prime Minister also spoke about global economic challenges, saying the world continued to face crises even as India progressed rapidly towards development. He referred to disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the Ukraine war, which led to rising prices of food, fuel, and fertilisers globally.
Despite these conditions, Modi said the Centre was providing fertilisers to Indian farmers at heavily subsidised prices. He stated that while fertiliser bags cost nearly Rs 3,000 in international markets, Indian farmers were receiving them for below Rs 300.
Calling for public participation in nation-building, Modi urged citizens to reduce petrol and diesel consumption, make greater use of metro services, encourage carpooling, and promote railway freight transport. He also advocated increased adoption of electric vehicles and suggested reviving work-from-home and online meeting practices introduced during the pandemic period.
Call for Swadeshi
The Prime Minister further stated that saving foreign exchange should be treated as an act of patriotism. He appealed to citizens to reduce foreign travel and the purchase of imported products while strengthening the “Vocal for Local” initiative by promoting indigenous goods.
Expressing concern over excessive use of chemical fertilisers, Modi urged farmers to reduce their dependence on them by 25% to 50% and move towards natural farming methods. He also encouraged the use of solar-powered pumps instead of diesel pumps.
Concluding his address, Prime Minister Modi called upon every citizen, political party, and organisation to work unitedly in the national interest during global crises. He said overcoming challenges was a collective responsibility and expressed confidence that India would successfully face every crisis through unity and commitment.
