Thiruvananthapuram: In a significant political development in Kerala, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has recorded a strong electoral performance in the 2026 Assembly elections by winning three crucial constituencies, signalling a notable shift in voter sentiment.
The BJP opened its account in Kollam district with B B Gopakumar securing a decisive victory in Chathannoor, defeating LDF candidate R. Rajendran by a margin of 4,002 votes. The win is being viewed as a reflection of the party’s steady grassroots expansion and consistent organisational outreach in the region.
In Thiruvananthapuram district, senior BJP leader V. Muraleedharan registered a key win in Kazhakkoottam constituency, further strengthening the party’s presence in the capital region. His victory is seen as a strong endorsement of the party’s development-oriented agenda and sustained urban engagement.
Adding to the party’s momentum, Rajeev Chandrasekhar secured a significant victory in Nemom constituency, marking another important gain for the BJP in southern Kerala. His win is being interpreted as a continuation of the party’s growing influence among urban and semi-urban voters.
Party leaders credited the results to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the tireless efforts of booth-level workers and state-level coordination. They said the mandate reflects increasing public support for the BJP’s governance model and development-focused politics.
After his win, B B Gopakumar said the Chathannoor verdict represents the people’s desire for change and progress. Similar sentiments were echoed by the other winning candidates, who highlighted strong organisational unity and voter outreach as key factors behind their success.
Political observers see the BJP’s three-seat victory as a major milestone in Kerala’s evolving political landscape. The results indicate a gradual but steady expansion of the party’s base in a state traditionally dominated by two major political fronts. With wins in Chathannoor, Kazhakkoottam and Nemom, the BJP has delivered one of its strongest performances in Kerala, signalling a new phase of competitive politics in the state.
