Vishwa Hindu Parishad on April 27, 2026 has expressed deep concern over the ongoing human rights violations against religious minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh, the World Hindu Council and has demanded immediate and effective intervention from the United Nations.
In a letter to President of UN General Assembly; VHP has demanded intervention to halt rising atrocities and forced conversions against religious minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The letter was sent by the International President of the World Hindu Council, Senior Advocate Alok Kumar.
The letter to Ms. Annalena Baerbock, highlighted the cases of persecution, forced conversions, and violence specifically against Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, and Christian communities in both countries.
The letter references recent reports from the UN human rights mechanisms and comments from experts, stating that there has been a disturbing increase in cases of forced conversions and marriages of minor girls in Pakistan. In these cases, the majority of victims are women from Hindu and Christian communities. Such incidents have been particularly prevalent in Sindh Province. Victims face physical, mental, and social harassment. The response of Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies in such cases has also been described as inadequate on several occasions.
Similarly, the letter mentions numerous instances of violence and discrimination against religious minorities, particularly Hindus, in Bangladesh. According to reports, a large number of communal violence incidents were recorded just during August 2024, in which minority communities were targeted.
Alok Kumar stated that the persistence and scale of these incidents indicate that existing arrangements for protecting the rights of minorities are not sufficient. He also emphasized that it is the responsibility of the international community and the United Nations to take concrete and effective steps to prevent these serious human rights violations.

In the email sent to UN General Assembly President Ms. Annalena Baerbock exactly one day before her Tuesday visit to New Delhi, VHP President Alok Kumar has prominently raised the following demands:
* Independent and impartial international investigation into forced conversions and violence against minorities
* Establishment of a special mechanism to ensure the safety and justice for victims
* Ensuring accountability in the concerned countries in line with international human rights standards
* Implementing strict legal and institutional measures to protect women and minors
The World Hindu Council has urged the UN leadership to prioritize this issue and ensure concrete action, so that the lives, freedoms, dignity, and rights of the affected communities can be protected. A copy of the letter has also been sent to UN Secretary-General along with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar.
