FacebookTwitterWhatsAppTelegramEmail

On April 18, 2026, a Kannur sessions court delivered a significant blow to the Marxist machinery of violence by convicting 10 CPI(M) workers for a 2011 bomb attack on a vehicle carrying nine RSS-BJP Karyakartas. Highlighting the ruthless nature of these targeted strikes, the main accused, T.V. Beenu (alias Urumban Beenu), was sentenced to 25 consecutive years in prison, while nine others received 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. The court also imposed a collective fine of Rs 2.6 lakh, officially penalising the communist cadres for their role in this co-ordinated attempt to physically eliminate nationalist volunteers through explosives.

For over five decades, the state of Kerala and parts of West Bengal have witnessed a relentless campaign of bloodletting directed at the grassroots volunteers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Since 1969, the cadres of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) have allegedly utilised state machinery and local dominance to orchestrate the systematic elimination of those who dare to champion nationalistic ideals. This protracted history of political intolerance has resulted in the brutal martyrdom of hundreds of Karyakartas, reflecting a chilling pattern of ideological fascism where murder is deployed as a tool to suppress the rising voice of cultural resurgence.

This report provides a harrowing chronicle of 25 key incidents between 1969 and 2025, detailing the brutal methods used by CPI(M) cadres to systematically target and kill RSS Karyakartas. It serves as a record of the relentless violence and ideological intolerance aimed at crushing nationalist voices through state-sponsored terror and physical liquidation.

Brutal Ambush of Devotees Returning from Gurudakshina in Thalassery

On July 24, 2022, the peaceful atmosphere of Kannur was shattered when CPI(M) goons orchestrated a fatal attack on RSS volunteer Jimnesh. Returning from the sacred “Gurudakshina” programme, a traditional ceremony of reverence, Jimnesh was intercepted and killed in cold blood. The assault was not limited to him; the communist cadres unleashed a wave of violence that left four other volunteers, T. Akshay, A. Adarsh, P.V. Jishnu, and K.P. Adarsh, fighting for their lives in a private hospital. This incident highlights the terrifying reality in Kerala, where participating in a cultural and spiritual gathering can make a youth a target for Marxist liquidation.

The Cold-Blooded Slaying of an Auto-Rickshaw Driver in New Mahe

The intolerance of the Left reached a gruesome peak on May 7, 2018, when Shemaj, a hardworking auto-rickshaw driver and dedicated RSS worker, was hunted down in New Mahe. In a display of sheer cowardice, a six-member gang linked to the CPI(M) dragged Shemaj out of his vehicle and hacked him to death. The brutal nature of the wounds ensured he had no chance of survival, as he breathed his last before reaching the hospital. The subsequent arrest of CPI(M) workers confirmed the political nature of this hit, proving that the Marxist machinery targets common citizens solely for their ideological affiliations.

Home Invasion and Torture of P.V. Sujith in Pappinisseri

In one of the most harrowing displays of communist depravity, 27-year-old RSS worker P.V. Sujith was slaughtered inside the sanctuary of his own home on February 15, 2016. A bloodthirsty mob of CPI(M) assailants stormed his residence in Pappinisseri under the cover of night, wielding lethal weapons. When Sujith’s elderly parents and brother desperately tried to shield him from the blows, the attackers showed no mercy, injuring the entire family. This horrific home invasion demonstrated that under the shadow of Red terror, even the private hearth of a nationalist is not safe from state-sponsored violence.

The High-Profile Assassination of E. Manoj via Terror Tactics

The murder of E. Manoj on September 1, 2014, remains a chilling testament to the sophisticated terror tactics employed by the CPI(M) in Kannur. Manoj, the district physical education chief of the RSS, was targeted in a military-style ambush near Kathirur. Assailants hurled a bomb at his vehicle to immobilise it before descending upon him with weapons to finish the job. The gravity of this political conspiracy was such that the CBI eventually charged 19 individuals, including the high-ranking CPI(M) leader P. Jayarajan, exposing how the highest echelons of the Marxist party are allegedly involved in plotting the elimination of their ideological rivals.

Massacre on Balidan Diwas: The Killing of Vinod Kumar

On December 1, 2013, the CPI(M) marked “Balidan Diwas”-a day intended to honour fallen heroes-by creating another martyr. Armed Marxist cadres intercepted vehicles carrying RSS volunteers who were travelling to pay their respects at the Jayakrishnan Master memorial programme. Using crude bombs and deadly weapons, the attackers launched a synchronised strike on the convoy, resulting in the tragic death of Vinod Kumar. By attacking a peaceful procession of mourners, the CPI(M) once again signalled its utter contempt for democratic rights and its reliance on street violence to suppress the nationalist movement in Kerala.

Fatal Assault on a Labour Advocate in Thalassery

The violent intolerance of the Marxist regime claimed another victim on August 17, 2014, when 42-year-old Suresh Kumar, a Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) worker and taxi driver, was ambushed in Kannur. Suspected CPI(M) workers targeted this humble labourer for his affiliation with the nationalist labour movement, inflicting catastrophic injuries. After a ten-day battle for his life, Suresh Kumar succumbed on August 27, 2014, leaving behind yet another family devastated by the Red terror that permeates the political landscape of Thalassery.

The Brutal Maiming and Murder of Anoop by a Communist Mob

In a display of sheer numerical thuggery, a massive mob of 30 to 40 CPI(M) and DYFI activists, led by local leaders Biju and Manoj, launched a co-ordinated terror raid near Komathapara on October 10, 2008. The assailants targeted the homes of nationalist volunteers, forcing RSS volunteer Anoop and his companion Rizesh to flee for their lives. The Marxist mob utilised high-intensity explosives, hurling a bomb that inflicted gruesome injuries on Anoop, causing him to lose an eye and a hand before he died in a pool of blood. This incident highlights the barbaric “annihilation” strategy used by the Left to cleanse areas of any ideological opposition.

Public Execution of Suresh Babu in Front of His Family

The sanctity of the home was once again violated on March 7, 2008, when six CPI(M) hitmen targeted RSS volunteer Suresh Babu at his residence in Kodiyeri. In a desperate attempt to protect himself, Babu tried to seek refuge at his in-laws’ house, but the merciless attackers pursued him with single-minded bloodlust. He was hacked to death in the presence of his traumatised wife and sister, demonstrating the CPI(M)’s complete disregard for human life or the psychological trauma inflicted on women and children. While five of the killers were later sentenced to life imprisonment, the incident remains a dark symbol of the party’s reliance on political assassination.

The Targeted Killing of an Impoverished Breadwinner

The tragic murder of 22-year-old Nikhil on March 5, 2008, exposed the anti-poor reality of Marxist violence in Kerala. As a truck driver and the sole provider for his destitute family, Nikhil represented the very demographic the Left claims to protect, yet he was brutally eliminated by CPI(M) activists for his commitment to the RSS. His death not only silenced a nationalist voice but also plunged an already impoverished family into total despair, proving that the communist machinery prioritises ideological dominance over the survival of the working class.

The Medieval Barbarism of Sathyan’s Beheading

On the same day of March 5, 2008, the CPI(M) displayed a level of medieval cruelty that shocked the nation when activists targeted RSS volunteer Sathyan in Kannur. In a cold-blooded abduction, the Marxist goons dragged Sathyan from his workplace to an isolated location where they proceeded to behead him. His headless body was later dumped by the roadside near his home as a terrifying warning to others. This act of decapitation reflects the extreme dehumanisation of political rivals by the communist cadres, who resort to the most depraved forms of violence to maintain their regional hegemony.

The Fatal Ambush of a Young Nationalist in Kannur

On August 16, 2007, the Marxist machinery of violence targeted 33-year-old Pramod, a dedicated RSS and BJP worker, in a brutal street assault. In an act typical of the CPI(M)’s campaign to silence ideological rivals, Pramod was cornered in his own locality and subjected to a savage physical attack. The fatal injuries inflicted by the communist cadres resulted in his immediate death on the spot. This murder was part of a larger, cold-blooded strategy to terrorise nationalist volunteers and establish total political dominance in northern Kerala through the sheer force of arms.

Deceptive Assassination of a Nationalist Lawyer

In a chilling display of treachery, CPI(M) activists targeted P.P. Valsaraj Kurup, a 37-year-old lawyer and RSS volunteer, on the night of March 4, 2007. The attackers arrived at his residence in Panur under the guise of seeking professional legal assistance, exploiting his professional ethics to lure him out. After gaining his trust by mentioning a mutual acquaintance, the ten-member gang dragged him from the safety of his home into a dark alley. There, they struck him on the head with an iron rod, ensuring a quick and silent execution. This incident underscored the Marxist willingness to use deception and lethal force against the intellectual and legal pillars of the nationalist movement.

The Brutal Stabbing of Pottakkadan Shaji near His Residence

The sanctity of a volunteer’s journey from his local shakha was violated on November 17, 2002, when RSS worker Pottakkadan Shaji was intercepted while returning from a branch meeting. Near his home in Kannur, CPI(M) assailants launched a frenzied knife attack, targeting his neck, arms, and legs with fatal precision. Shaji, who was accompanied by a friend at the time, was slaughtered for his commitment to his faith and ideology. The subsequent police investigation exposed the deep-rooted collusion within the Marxist ecosystem, as relatives of the accused were found providing shelter to the killers, highlighting a community-wide infrastructure of political terror.

Daylight Abduction and Execution of Chavasseri Uthman

On May 21, 2002, the CPI(M) demonstrated its complete lack of regard for public order or human life by targeting RSS member Chavasseri Uthman in broad daylight. While Uthman was travelling on a public bus, a group of Marxist activists forcibly stopped the vehicle and dragged him onto the road in front of horrified passengers. In a brazen display of street power, they murdered him on the spot, sending a clear message that no public space was safe for those who affiliated with the RSS. This politically motivated assassination remains a stark example of the “annihilation” policy used by the Left to cleanse the public sphere of nationalist voices.

The Midnight Massacre at Melur and the Long Walk to Justice

The midnight of March 1, 2002, witnessed a horrific bloodbath in Melur, Thalassery, when a band of CPI(M) activists armed with axes and swords descended upon RSS workers Sujish and Sunil. The victims were hacked to death in a co-ordinated strike designed to eliminate the local leadership of the RSS. While the communist party attempted to shield its cadres, a rigorous legal battle led to the conviction of 14 members in 2006. The quest for justice reached its final conclusion on January 6, 2025, when the Supreme Court of India upheld the life sentences of the primary conspirators, officially documenting the CPI(M)’s role in orchestrating lethal violence against nationalist volunteers.

Targeted Elimination of Yuva Morcha Leader K.K. Biju

The brutal landscape of Kannur witnessed another tragic loss on December 5, 2000, when Yuva Morcha leader and RSS-BJP worker K.K. Biju was gunned down near Maloor. In an environment where nationalist leaders are frequently marked for death, Biju was intercepted and shot by assailants linked to the CPI(M) machinery. This targeted killing was designed to decapitate the local leadership of the nationalist youth wing, sending a chilling message to any young person daring to challenge the Marxist hegemony in northern Kerala.

The Cold-Blooded Murder of C.K. Chandran in Peruvangad

On December 3, 2000, just days before the assassination of Biju, the CPI(M) cadres claimed the life of C.K. Chandran, a dedicated RSS-BJP worker in Peruvangad. Chandran was ambushed in a calculated assault near Maloor, becoming a victim of the “annihilation” policy that the Left has historically used to purge its political rivals. His murder underscored the relentless and systematic nature of the violence unleashed against the nationalist rank and file, where common workers are hunted down simply for their ideological convictions.

The Barbaric Classroom Execution of K.T. Jayakrishnan Master

In one of the most depraved acts in the history of Indian politics, RSS leader K.T. Jayakrishnan was slaughtered on December 1, 1999, inside a classroom at Mokery East U.P. School. In front of his horrified young students, seven CPI(M) killers armed with swords and knives hacked the teacher to death, inflicting 48 gruesome injuries. This act of medieval savagery was intended to traumatise an entire generation and demonstrate that the Marxist bloodlust knows no boundaries, not even the sanctity of a school. The later confession of a CPI(M) cadre in 2012 further exposed the deep-seated institutional involvement in this horrific crime.

The Martyrdom of Vadikkal Ramakrishnan: The Genesis of Red Terror

The dark history of political liquidations in Kannur traces its roots back to April 28, 1969, with the killing of Vadikkal Ramakrishnan. A tailor by profession and a devoted RSS swayamsevak, Ramakrishnan was hacked to death inside his shop in Thalassery by CPI(M) workers. This incident marked the beginning of a violent era where the Left began using physical elimination as a standard political tool. As the first martyr in this long struggle, Ramakrishnan’s death remains a symbol of the heavy price nationalist volunteers have paid to keep the flame of their ideology alive against communist fascism.

The Savage Sword Attack on Teenage Volunteer P. Nikhil

The CPI(M)’s intolerance for the younger generation of nationalists was on full display on September 19, 2017, when 19-year-old P. Nikhil was brutally ambushed. While travelling on his motorcycle near Mattannur, the teenager was intercepted by a six-member gang of Marxist goons who unleashed a frenzied attack with swords. Nikhil sustained life-threatening injuries to his shoulder and thigh, narrowly escaping death. This cowardly strike on a young student highlights the desperate attempts by the Left to suppress the rising tide of nationalism among Kerala’s youth through sheer physical intimidation and terror.

Mass Ambush of Nationalist Volunteers in the Red Stronghold

On January 30, 2017, the CPI(M) displayed its sheer disregard for democratic assembly by launching a co-ordinated mass assault on more than 20 RSS volunteers in Kannur. This targeted ambush was designed to instil a climate of fear and paralyse the organisational activities of the nationalist movement. Multiple volunteers sustained injuries in the melee as the Communist cadres utilised their local dominance to physically intimidate those who dared to challenge their ideological monopoly. This incident remains a stark reminder of the “mob justice” frequently employed by the Left to suppress any rising alternative voice in northern Kerala.

Savage Knife Attack on A.V. Biju in Broad Daylight

The ruthless nature of Marxist intolerance was once again evident on March 8, 2016, when 35-year-old RSS worker A.V. Biju was targeted in a terrifying broad-daylight assault. Biju was forcibly dragged out of an autorickshaw by a five-member CPI(M) gang and subjected to a frenzied attack with sharp weapons. Left with multiple life-threatening stab wounds, Biju was rushed to Kozhikode Medical College in a critical state. This attempted killing highlighted the barbaric tactics of the Communist machinery, where even a simple commute can turn into a struggle for survival for those affiliated with the RSS.

The Inhuman Mutilation of Sadanandan Master

In one of the most stomach-churning acts of political depravity, CPI(M) workers targeted RSS leader C. Sadanandan Master on January 25, 1994, near Mattannur. The assailants first used crude bombs to trigger panic before dragging the teacher out and carrying out a medieval-style mutilation. In a calculated move to permanently disable a nationalist voice, the attackers severed both of Sadanandan Master’s legs. This act of extreme cruelty was intended not just to kill, but to serve as a living, breathing warning to others. The subsequent conviction of several CPI(M) workers officially linked the party to this horrific act of physical liquidation.

The Maiming of Physical Education Chief Sumesh on Shivratri

The sacred occasion of Shivratri was marred by blood on March 5, 2008, when CPI(M) goons ambushed RSS Physical Education Chief Sumesh near Thalassery. In a savage display of bloodlust, the Marxist gang launched a knife attack so severe that it resulted in the severing of Sumesh’s left hand. This targeted strike on a key organisational leader was aimed at crippling the local RSS structure. It took over a decade for justice to be served, but in 2019, the Thalassery Additional Sessions Court finally sentenced six CPI(M) workers, including Pottian Santosh and others, to ten years of rigorous imprisonment for this heinous murder attempt.

The Brutal Dismemberment of Nidheesh during Jana Raksha Yatra

As the BJP’s “Jana Raksha Yatra”-a march against political terror-was underway on October 16, 2017, the CPI(M) responded with the very violence the march sought to expose. A gang of Marxist cadres ambushed RSS worker Nidheesh in Edakkad, carrying out a barbaric attack where they hacked at his limbs, effectively dismembering his hands and legs. Nidheesh was left in a critical condition, fighting for his life after being shifted to Kozhikode Medical College. This horrific assault underscored the desperation of the Communist regime to maintain its “party village” hegemony by physically breaking the bodies of those who participate in democratic protests.

The protracted history of violence documented across these decades reveals a chilling and systematic campaign of “ideological cleansing” orchestrated by the Marxist machinery. These incidents are not merely isolated clashes but represent a calculated strategy of physical liquidation designed to silence the rising voice of nationalism. By targeting dedicated volunteers at their workplaces, within the sanctuary of their homes, and even in front of their students, the perpetrators have demonstrated a complete disregard for human life and democratic norms.

The recurring patterns of brutal mutilation and cold-blooded killing highlight a deep-seated intolerance that seeks to establish a totalitarian grip over the social and political fabric of the region. From a nationalist perspective, the blood of these martyrs serves as a somber testament to the heavy price paid for defending cultural values against a repressive and violent political ideology. Ultimately, these records stand as a powerful reminder of the resilience required to withstand institutionalised terror and the ongoing struggle to restore true democratic pluralism in the face of extremist aggression.
