Indian Army joins Arunachal tribals for ‘World Heritage Day’ celebration in Tuting near China border

Guwahati: Guided by the motto of safeguarding both the nation and its rich heritage, the Indian Army stands resolute in the country’s remotest frontiers—defending borders while preserving the cultural legacy of communities along these vital lines.

In a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity and heritage of Bharat, the Spearhead Division of Spearcorps of Indian Army organized a Tribal Cultural Programme at Solung Ground, Tuting in Arunachal Pradesh on the occasion of World Heritage Day on April 20.

The event showcased the rich traditions of Arunachal Pradesh, with captivating performances by members of the Adi, Memba–Khamba and Idu Mishmi tribes. Participants across all age groups, from young children to elders, took part enthusiastically, adorned in their colourful traditional attire. Their performances highlighted the unique customs, music and dance forms that have been preserved through generations.

The programme was conducted under the aegis of Operation Sadbhavna, reinforcing the Indian Army’s commitment towards fostering cultural awareness, strengthening bonds with local communities, and preserving the region’s invaluable heritage.

The event witnessed an overwhelming response from the local populace and served as a platform to celebrate unity in diversity, while encouraging the younger generation to take pride in their cultural roots.

Through such initiatives, the Spearhead Gunners continue to promote community engagement, cultural preservation and social harmony in the region.

Army Celebrates Baisakhi in Mechuka

The Indian Army celebrated Baisakhi with warmth and enthusiasm at Taposthan Gurudwara in Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh on April 14, marking the festival in the spirit of harmony, faith and community participation. The occasion was graced by the presence of Minister P.D. Sona, whose participation added significance to the event.

The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation by members of the local community, reflecting the strong bonds of trust and goodwill shared between the Army and the people of the region. The event served as a vibrant expression of India’s rich cultural diversity and the inclusive spirit that defines festivals such as Baisakhi.

The gathering also highlighted the Indian Army’s continued commitment to meaningful community engagement in remote border areas. By participating in local and national festivals alongside the people, the Army continues to strengthen mutual understanding, preserve shared traditions and promote social cohesion.

Such initiatives remain an important part of the Indian Army’s outreach efforts aimed at fostering goodwill and reinforcing civil-military synergy in frontier regions. The presence of Minister  P.D. Sona further underscored the collective commitment towards unity, development and peace in the border areas of Arunachal Pradesh.

The celebration reaffirmed the Indian Army’s enduring role not only as a guardian of the nation’s frontiers but also as a steadfast partner in community welfare and nation-building, said PRO Defence Col. Mahendra Rawat.
