NEW DELHI: Kabeer Chhillar, who hails from Gurugram in the Delhi-NCR region, achieved the rare feat of scoring full marks in JEE Main Session 1, placing him at the top of one of India’s most competitive engineering entrance examinations. Notably, he chose not to appear for Session 2 after securing the top rank.

Kabeer’s achievement reflects a combination of rigorous training and focused academic effort.

Kabeer comes from an academically inclined family. His father, Mohit Chhillar, is an IIT graduate currently working in a private company in Delhi-NCR, while his mother, Priyanka Chhillar, is a private school teacher.

Born on July 30, 2008, Kabir had already demonstrated academic excellence earlier by scoring 98 percent in his Class 10 board examinations.

JEE Main 2026 topper Kabeer highlighted the importance of developing a personalised study approach.

“I focused on the quality of self-study and my attention span. After every test, I analysed my performance and worked specifically on my weak areas,” he said.

Kabeer adopted a methodical preparation strategy that included regular mock tests, in-depth analysis of each paper, and continuous refinement of his study plan. This approach significantly improved both his accuracy and time management skills.

According to Kabeer, understanding concepts thoroughly rather than memorising them was central to his preparation. He divided his studies into smaller, achievable targets, created short notes for quick revision, and ensured regular practice.

“Concept clarity is the most important. Instead of rote learning, I focused on understanding and applying each topic,” he noted.

He also made it a point to identify mistakes after every test and consciously worked to avoid repeating them. Sharing insights into his preparation, Kabeer emphasised that faculty guidance at the Allen Career Institute played a crucial role in his journey to success

Beyond academics, Kabeer maintained a balanced routine by spending time with friends, which helped him stay mentally refreshed during the intense preparation phase.

Looking ahead, Kabeer has clear ambitions. He aims to pursue a B.Tech in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, followed by higher studies at the globally renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
