At the foundation stone laying ceremony of the ‘Lata-Asha Mangeshkar Institute of Medical Sciences’ in Nandoshi, Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, said that service activities succeed only when driven by selflessness and sincerity. True service arises from a sense of belonging, and it is this spirit that continues to sustain goodness in society. He emphasised that society must also actively participate in such service initiatives to the extent possible. Service performed with selfless intent and a feeling of oneness is, in itself, dharma.

On the occasion, dignitaries present on the stage included Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar, Anand Bhosale, and the institute’s Medical Director Dr. Dhananjay Kelkar. The program began with a tribute to the late Asha Bhosle.

Bhagwat said that the emotional depth reflected in the voices of Lata Didi and Asha Tai is extraordinary, and their music will remain timeless.

He further stated that education and healthcare must be considered essential life needs, and every individual should have access to affordable and quality services in these sectors. While the government and administration are making efforts in this direction, he stressed that citizens too must contribute with a sense of ownership toward the nation. The spirit of service rooted in belonging and goodness is the true essence of dharma.

Fadnavis Lauds Mangeshkar Family for Blending Service with Healthcare

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised the patriotism of the Mangeshkar family, stating, “The Mangeshkar family is known not only for music but also for its strong sense of nationalism. The family has had a deep association with Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital has never commercialised its services but has treated thousands of patients with a spirit of service.”

He further said that in today’s times, “affordable healthcare” is a major necessity. Often, even charitable institutions tend to move towards commercialisation due to financial constraints. However, the Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital has remained committed solely to service. This legacy is now being extended through the ‘Lata-Asha’ Mangeshkar Hospital.

Fadnavis also assured that the government will provide full support in widening the roads leading to the hospital परिसर and addressing water scarcity issues. He added that efforts will be made to provide concessions to charitable institutions as well.

Eknath Shinde Highlights Mangeshkar Family’s Patriotism Beyond Music

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde praised the struggles of Asha Bhosle, saying that she overcame numerous challenges and ultimately “sang the song of joy in life.” He added that the world of music would be incomplete without the voices of Lata Didi and Asha Tai. Through this new hospital, thousands of families will receive healthcare services. The Mangeshkar family, he said, has gone beyond music to uphold a strong sense of patriotism.

The event was introduced by the hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Dhananjay Kelkar, who said, “Lata Didi and Asha Tai are two eternal stars in the galaxy of music. As long as music exists, their legacy will remain immortal.” He further informed that the proposed hospital will have eight major departments. In the first phase, a surgical and medical super-speciality hospital will be established. Additionally, a medical college will also be set up by the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha. The event was anchored by Aniruddha Dedke.
