Meanwhile Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tributes to the legendary singer. Taking to his X social media platform Amit Shah wrote, “Today is a sorrowful day for every Indian and especially for every music lover like me, as our beloved Asha Bhosle ji is no longer among us. Asha Tai not only carved out a unique identity with her sweet voice and unparalleled talent, but also enriched Indian music further through her melodies. Her extraordinary ability to adapt to every genre of music won over every heart. Asha ji, who touched millions of hearts with her voice, left an indelible mark not just in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Gujarati, and many other languages, but also in folk songs. Asha Tai’s voice held as much tenderness as her demeanor did simplicity and warmth. Whenever I met her, we would have long conversations on topics like music and art. Though she may not be with us today, through her voice, she will forever remain in our hearts. May God grant Asha ji a place at His divine feet. I extend my deepest condolences to her family and countless admirers. Om Shanti Shanti Shanti”.

Meanwhile, Singer Shankar Mahadevan described Asha Bhosle as an embodiment of Maa Saraswathi who had a profound influence on his musical journey. In a video message, Mahadevan said, “A very sad day for all of us and a very sad day for Indian music. I cannot believe that our dearest Asha Tayi is no more. I am not able to express my sorrow and what I am feeling right now, as a musician, as didi’s worshipper, as a very close family friend and looking up to her like Maa Saraswati”.

Describing her musical legacy as immortal, he added, “I am sure that every single Indian is heartbroken. But didi and her music will never ever perish from the face of the earth till humans exist. Because her contribution cannot be described in words. She is somebody who is going to live forever and going to be there on our phone, on TV, on every single medium where music plays. She is going to be there with us, with her amazing voice resounding all over the planet. At this moment, we are all grief-stricken; we are all heartbroken. Let’s all pray that she is in a better place and keeps blessing us and sending us her positive and enthusiastic energy that she used to always share with us”.

Bhosle, 92, passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to multi-organ failure. She had been admitted a day earlier following extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. As one of the most celebrated voices in Indian music history, Asha Bhosle, leaves behind a monumental legacy that shaped the soundscape of Indian cinema for over eight decades. Over the course of her career, she recorded thousands of songs in multiple languages, earning multiple Filmfare Awards, National Film Awards and global recognition for her versatility across genres. Born in 1933, Bhosle began her musical journey at a young age and rose to prominence in the 1950s. Her voice was playful, emotive and adaptable, thus became synonymous with generations of film music.
