NEW DELHI: A 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan on the night of April 3, sending strong tremors across large parts of North India, including Delhi-NCR. The sudden shaking, felt around 9:50 pm, triggered panic among residents, with many rushing out of homes and office buildings as a precaution.

According to initial data, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, the quake occurred at 16:12:58 UTC with its epicentre located at coordinates 36.52°N latitude and 71.01°E longitude, at a depth of 175 kilometres. The information was shared by Kashmir Weather, citing data from GFZ.

No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been received so far, however, mild tremors triggered panic among residents in parts of the Valley.

Tremors from a powerful earthquake, with an intensity of 6.3, were felt in multiple cities, including Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, Gilgit, and Swat.

People were seen rushing out of their homes and buildings.
