Assam Election: BJP will post a hat-trick of wins and ‘Rajkumar’ of Congress party register century of defeat: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a sharp political attack on the Congress while addressing a massive election rally in Dhemaji district, asserting that the upcoming Assam Assembly polls would mark a “century of defeats” for Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Projecting confidence in a third consecutive victory for the BJP-led NDA in the state, Modi combined strong political messaging with promises of continued development, identity protection, and strict action against illegal infiltration

GUWAHATI: Taking a jibe at the leader of the opposition, Rahul Gandhi, PM Narendra Modi, on April 1, said that the Assam assembly election will mark the century of defeat for the so-called ‘Rajkumar’ of the Congress party. PM Modi was addressing a huge election rally in Gogamukh, Dhemaji district, North Assam. Assuring the hat-trick of wins for BJP-NDA in Assam, PM Modi said that this will also be a hat-trick of defeats for the Congress party and a century of defeats for the so-called prince of the party.

He said, ” You have ended the misrule of the Congress, but you have to be alert in this election. Assam Congress leaders are talking about a dangerous act against the majority population. Before the 2014 general elections, the Congress-led central government attempted to enact the ‘Communal Violence Bill,’ ostensibly to appease its core vote bank. The proposed legislation would have held only the majority community accountable for any communal violence, presuming them guilty while automatically deeming religious minorities as victims—a deeply communal measure in itself. The BJP-NDA blocked it in Parliament. “Had the bill passed, and Congress stayed in power, imagine the exploitation of the majority population; it would have been like stabbing India’s Constitution—drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar—from behind,” the Prime Minister remarked. Now, 12 years later, Assam Congress is pushing a similar communal act in the state.  It is not my allegation; Congress leaders are openly announcing this. It is now clear that Congress can do anything to form a government. “Congress has become a Muslim League Maoist Congress. Muslim League divided the country before independence, and Congress is doing the same now. Congress is now openly supporting the infiltration and infiltrators. They want to nurture infiltrators in Assam and want to push the indigenous people of the state. We have seen this crisis in many districts of Assam”, PM Modi added. He further said that the eviction drives against illegal encroachment on forest and government land will continue under the BJP government. Assamese pride and heritage will remain intact, and it is a guarantee by Modi.

Referring to the “Sankalpa Patra’ (manifesto) of Assam BJP, PM Modi said, the promise to bring Uniform Civil Code (UCC), keeping intact the customs, rituals and culture of the tribal population and the six schedule areas of the state, is important to safeguard the identity of Assam. “ You know BJP always keeps its promises”, he said. PM Modi also mentioned that the BJP government over the last 10 years has achieved remarkable development in the state, and that the process will continue. “ Assam was once known for its tea, and the days are not far when Assam will be known for electronic chips manufactured in its semiconductor factory”, the PM added.
