How will the wars end?

How will the disputes between warring nations be resolved? There is at present no strong international adjudicating agency with punitive powers. The UNO is almost organically defunct. So, who will establish such an agency? No Gods are going to descend from the heaven to do it. Instead, humans will have to get their act together

Every problem has a cause and more precisely a root cause. And every problem also has a solution. Temporary solutions address the problem rather superficially providing amelioration of symptoms of the problem but permanent or long-lasting solutions address the root causes of the problem. Wars between nations are indeed a problem; there is no doubt about it. Humans inhabiting this celestial abode called earth have lived for more than a billion years on this planet since the creation of the universe about 1.96 billion years ago. They have, for a long period, lived a civilised existence as separate nations characterised by varying cultures and ideologies.

Every human being wants peace and happiness. No person worth his salt desires misery or sorrow of any kind. But the human race is privy to pain, penury and privation in the continuous course of its existence. Human communities have lived with troubles and difficulties of all kinds including disasters and calamities—natural or manmade. Death and disease have been constant companions of humans. Wars between nations have wrought death and destruction to humans on a massive scale. Wars have generally brought such destruction to both the warring parties—the victor and the vanquished. But the dimensions of wars have undergone dramatic changes in recent decades. Technology accretions during this period have led to the emergence of yet more sophisticated, potent and destructive weapons. Missiles— supersonic and hypersonic and drones are the latest addition to the list of modern destructive armaments.

All wars are the outcome of Adharma (unrighteousness) originating from the banal elements of human desire, passion, greed, vanity and anger which lead to erosion of wisdom and trigger violent actions that disrupt peace. Wars witness bloodshed, destruction of human assets and toll of lives on a humongous scale. The present wars tell the same gory story. Russia accuses US and NATO countries of expanding eastwards, of regime change intrigues done in Ukraine and advance of inimical forces towards its borders, thus imperilling its security. It justifies its attack on Ukraine. The NATO group branded Russia as the aggressor.

Israel justifies its expansive action to reclaim the territory historically belonging to the Zionist Jews, whereas its bordering Muslim countries view it as an outsider occupying illegally the territory belonging to the Palestinian Arabs. The historical animosity based on faith and cultural differences between Zionists and Muslim Arabs continues. Iran regards Israeli Jews worthy of being wiped out from the face of the earth. The big power US, the global policeman often carries out coups or regime change operations to install its different rulers in the saddle of power. It provides justifications like protection of democratic values and ousting of despots for its actions. It unleashes war on Iran to destroy its nuclear arms facilities while itself holding a pile of 5000 nuclear weapons.

It is the only country to have unleashed the horrors of a nuclear holocaust—on Japan, to end the second World War in 1945. It imposes economic and trade sanctions against countries in the name of fairness and justice. China, with a history of land grabbing and encroachment, waits for the right opportunity to attack and annex Taiwan. It keeps on performing intimidatory tactics in this regard to frighten the island country into submission.

Pakistan, an artificial state carved out of India by the machinations of erstwhile colonial powers maintains its belligerent posture towards neighbouring India and inciting disturbance through cross border terrorism. Afghanistan disputes its border with Pakistan and is currently fighting with it. How will the disputes between warring nations be resolved? There is at present no strong international adjudicating agency with punitive powers. The UNO is almost organically defunct. Who will establish such an agency? No Gods are going to descend from the heavens to do it. Humans will have to get their act together and go about it.

Humans will have to understand that amidst this maelstrom of clashing ideologies, there is a set of doctrines called Dharma with crystal clear principles. Dharma is universal and eternal. It is divine and came from the creator and regulator of the Universe who is both omniscient and omnipotent. Belief in him is based on raw logic and is necessary for his human subjects. The ideological strands of Dharma are expounded in the universal Vedic scriptures. Wise and erudite humans of the world need to sit together and draw guidance from these texts. The solution is simple. No amount of clever strategizing inconsistent with Dharma will enable it.

A critical analysis of the current geopolitical situation in the backdrop of human Dharma will at once bring the understanding that Global peace is not a distant dream. It is a possible and practical reality. Sincerity in understanding and abiding by Dharma will make it happen. And who but the scholars and statesmen of Bharat can facilitate it?
