Guwahati: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) urges a 100 per cent voter turnout, keeping in mind the national interest on top. With reference to the upcoming assembly election in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry, the Uttar Assam Prant of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has called upon citizens to ensure 100 per cent voter participation, placing national interest above all. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on March 19, RSS Assam Kshetra’s Kshetra Prachar Pramukh Dr Sunil Mohanty appealed to all voters in the state to actively participate in the democratic process by voting in large numbers and becoming partners in the nation’s development.
Speaking at the press conference held at the RSS Assam Kshetra office, Sudarshanalaya, Dr Mohanty stated that the current year marks several significant historical and cultural milestones. These include the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram, the 350th martyrdom year of the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, and the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Ravidas Ji. Various programmes are being organised to strengthen social awareness and cultural consciousness on these occasions.
The press conference, conducted by Uttar Assam Prant Prachar Pramukh Kishor Shivam, also featured Prant Karyavah Khagen Saikia, who shared key discussions held during the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, organised from March 13 to 15 at Samalkha in Panipat district of Haryana. He informed that the ABPS commenced with floral tributes offered at the portrait of Bharat Mata by Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat and Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale. A total of 1,438 representatives from 46 Prants across the country participated in the meeting.
Under the centenary year programmes of the Sangh, 62,555 Vijayadashami events were organised nationwide to mark the beginning of the centenary year, witnessing participation from 3,245,141 people. Additionally, through the centenary Griha Sampark Abhiyan, contact was established with 1,002,12,162 citizens across 389,465 locations nationwide. In Uttar Assam Prant alone, outreach was conducted in 11,15,165 families across 13,061 villages. During this campaign, 16,940 karyakartas from 2,028 mandals actively participated, and 306,806 copies of the book titled Sangh Yatra were distributed among 1,446,401 people.
Similarly, under the Hindu Sammelans organised so far, 37,048 programmes were held across 37 Prants of the country, with participation from 34,935,211 people, including 19,340,087 men and 15,595,128 women. In Uttar Assam Prant, 1,128 Hindu Sammelans recorded a total of 640,310 participants, including 230,150 men and 410,160 women, from 7,570 villages. Prant Karyavah informed that currently, 88,939 shakhas of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh are being held regularly at 55,683 locations under 59,004 mandals across the country.
Regarding the forthcoming organisational restructuring, Prant Prachar Pramukh Kishor Shivam stated that from the coming year, Sangh’s geographical structure will be reorganised from the earlier 11 Kshetras to 9 Kshetras, and from 46 Prants to 85 Sambhags. However, state-level committees will continue to function as before. This restructuring has been undertaken with a view to organisational expansion, decentralisation, and the strengthening of Sangh activities.
