New Delhi : The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on March 14 issued an important advisory to citizens, stating that petrol and diesel are adequately available at retail outlets across the country and urging consumers not to take or store fuel in loose or inappropriate containers due to serious safety risks.
In a statement titled “Important Information for All Citizens”, the Ministry clarified that all petrol pumps nationwide currently have sufficient availability of petrol and diesel and there is no shortage of fuel supplies.

The advisory noted that authorities had observed an incident at a retail outlet in Tamil Nadu where petrol was reportedly being taken in a loose container. The Ministry described the practice as unsafe and not advisable, warning that storing or transporting fuel in improper containers could pose significant safety hazards.
Following the incident, the concerned petrol pump has been suspended and appropriate action has been taken, the Ministry said.
The Ministry further stated that all retail outlets and fuel dealers across the country have been instructed to strictly adhere to safety guidelines while dispensing fuel. It warned that any violation of these guidelines would invite strict action.
Consumers have been specifically advised not to take or store petrol or any other fuel in loose or unsuitable containers in order to avoid potential accidents and ensure public safety.
